  1. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Stoke win a corner and unlike the end of the first-half where the ball ended up in the net, Reading clear their lines comfortably with the clock ticking down towards 90 minutes.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 85 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan wins a free-kick for Reading and Alex Neil uses the break to make another change, bringing on D'Margio Wright-Phillips for Will Smallborne.

  3. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

We've got a short pause as Ben Wilmot has gone down and doesn't look comfortable at all.

While he's having treatment, Alex Neil uses the break to dish some quick instructions out to his side who have eight minutes of regular time left to find an equaliser.

Stoke just haven't been able to get a grip on this match during the second half. No sooner do they have a shot blocked near the Reading penalty area, the hosts are on the counter attack instantly down the other end.

For all the possession they've had they haven't been able to turn it into enough clear-cut chances yet.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

The foul from Sam Clucas is his last touch of the match as he's taken off by Alex Neil before the free-kick in a double change with Liam Delap.

Connor Taylor and Jordan Thompson come on.

  6. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Reading win a free-kick right on the edge of the box and it's a cheap one to give away from Sam Clucas.

Andy Yiadom goes down easily but it's the follow-up from Clucas that the referee blows the whistle for, as he puts his foot on the Reading captain while he's on the ground.

Ince's free-kick takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Second change in two minutes for Reading, with Shane Long heading off in place of Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 68 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

First change for Reading and it's Baba Rahman - who arrived back at the club for his second loan spell on transfer deadline day from Chelsea - who comes on in place of Junior Hoilett.

  9. CLOSE!published at 65 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

How, how did that not go in?!

It's a really neat bit of play from Reading that all started with Shane Long deep in his own half turning and holding off two Stoke players to release Junior Hoilett on the break.

Tom Holmes eventually slips the ball into Andy Yiadom in the box and his low cross, via a deflection off Ben Wilmot, rolls across the front of an empty goal, tantalisingly in front of Lucas Joao, but somehow he can't get the touch on it to put it in the net.

  10. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Reading's home form and particularly their defensive record has been strong this season so far.

Ben Wilmot's goal for Stoke earlier was only the second goal the Royals have conceded at the Select Car Stadium.

The visitors have got 25 minutes to try and find a way through for another.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    Reading 2-1 Stoke City

Alex Neil makes his first change of the afternoon, bringing on Nick Powell in place of Tariqe Fosu in midfield.

  12. 'A really good penalty'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

It's a really good penalty, hit nice and firmly along the ground.

The keeper has gone the right way and he wasn't a million miles away but the pace has beaten him into the corner.

  13. goal

GOAL: Reading 2-1 Stoke Citypublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2022

    Lucas Joao, pen (56 mins)

Jack Bonham goes the right way but Lucas Joao's spot kick is too powerful for him to get anything on as he doubles his tally for the afternoon and puts Reading back in front.

  14. PENALTY TO READINGpublished at 56 mins

Penalty to Reading and there's no doubt about it.

Ben Wilmot dives in on Lucas Joao in the box and gets nowhere near the ball. Easy decision for the referee.

  15. CLOSE!published at 54 mins

    Reading 1-1 Stoke City

Tom Ince is narrowly caught by the offside flag as he seemed to have broken the Stoke defensive line and almost got through on goal.

  16. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Reading 1-1 Stoke City

Reading have already been punished for a couple of bits of sloppy play in possession early this half and Paul Ince will want to snuff that out quickly.

Tariqe Fosu wins a free-kick in a teasing area on the far corner of the box and while it comes to nothing it presents Stoke another opportunity to get the ball into the Reading area.

  17. CLOSE!published at 47 mins

    Reading 1-1 Stoke City

Chance for Sam Clucas who makes a darting run into the box after a good passage on the break.

He gets on the end of a cross from Tyrese Campell but scuffs his shot and slides as it goes high and over the bar.

This is only part one of three matches we've got this afternoon in the Championship.

Sheffield United travel to Hull City in one of our two 15:00 BST kick offs and could go back to the top of the table with a win today.

The Blades are unbeaten since their opening match of the season and head north off the back of a emphatic 4-0 win over Reading midweek.

In our other tie, Huddersfield host Blackpool looking for just their second win of the season.
