It may be goalless at half-time but the warm applause from the Liverpool fans suggest they have been happy with that they have seen so far.

Liverpool have certainly been a threat but Manchester City have had chances themselves and Erling Haaland was clearly unhappy that he did not make more of that far post header than direct it straight at Alisson.

Jurgen Klopp will be happy with the performance of his team. Nothing too clear cut. Not too sure what Pep Guardiola will make of that first half from his Man City side. That is a compliment to Liverpool and how they have stifled their opponents. Man City have not really been able to dominate an area. Maybe the second half will be better and I expect so much more from Man City.

A lively match with lots of intensity but not too many chances yet. Still waiting for the match to really take off.

Diogo Jota beats Rodri but his pass through to Mohamed Salah is blocked by Nathan Ake.

I think City have been better defensively than offensively and it's no wonder Pep Guardiola is screaming instructions to his players.

Harvey Elliott plays it inside to Fabinho but his cut-back is straight to Ruben Dias.

Man City have become more prominent the longer this half has gone on.

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports: "Hectic! It is always really intense here, we were exceptional in the first half and should have been two or three up. Credit to Leeds in the second half, we made so many errors and did not generate momentum but I just love the relentless passion the team played with and how we found a way to win.

Overturned penalty: "I have not seen it but everyone is saying the decision was clear. Thank God they made the system to work, that delay was worth it because without VAR I don't know what would have happened!

"This is something special. This is not a coincidence it shows the willingness that I see in the eyes of the players to win, to compete. A lot of players played in Norway two and a half days ago, travelled back on Friday and were still willing to win so credit to them."

Kevin de Bruyne does really well on the right to keep possession under pressure from Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson but Phil Foden is quickly closed down shortly afterwards. Roberto Firmino flicks it on to Diogo Jota and it's handball from Rodri.

Really good play from Man City. De Bruyne picks out Haaland who should do better.

Kevin de Bruyne curls it in to Erling Haaland. He gets plenty of power behind the header but it's straight at Alisson, who holds onto it.

City are picking Haaland out though.

Delightful play on the Liverpool left, one two touch passes, but good last ditch defending from Manchester City.

The corner doesn't fall for Roberto Firmino but he sets up Harvey Elliott. His shot is blocked, Liverpool come back again and Andy Robertson wins a corner again off Ruben Dias.

City had a bright spell for five minutes and now it's Liverpool's turn it seems.

Fabinho shoves Ilkay Gundogan off it in the middle and it's pinged over the top for Mohamed Salah to chase. He links up with Andy Robertson and he wins a corner.
