Scoring goals is a problem for Brighton.

I've covered so many games where I've said how well Brighton have played, how much possession they've had, how many chances they've created.

But they haven't scored goals and it has been a real issue.

Paul: Haaland scoring goals will never get tiring. Not a city fan but he’s quality.

Anon: Too easy. Like a veteran of the league. It's Haaland's league. It's Pep's Kingdom. It's Man City's world, and it seems the rest of us are just passing through it.

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Better from Brighton as some nice one touch passing has Pascal Gross in a decent crossing position inside the box, but his square ball is stabbed behind.

    Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze, another goalscorer for Palace against Wolves, tries his luck from just inside the penalty area but it is excellent defending from James Tarkowski who gets his body in the way.

    Manchester City at their best.

It starts with Mahrez, half way in the Brighton half, nutmegs Lallana and gets away. He slots the ball down the right to Bernardo Silva, who pulls it back.

You think De Bruyne is going to hit it, but he reverses to Grealish, who reverses it back.

Leandro Trossard takes too long trying to work some space inside the Manchester City box and in the end his shot is easily blocked.

    Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace

A clash between Everton's Conor Coady and Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic and both men need treatment, but both are OK to carry on.

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Almost a brilliant second for Manchester City as they work the ball down the right before the ball is played to Kevin de Bruyne on the edge of the area, he touches it on to Jack Grealish on the left and then gets it back before his low shot is saved.

    Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace

Joachim Andersen gets his head on a corner but the Palace centre-half can only head it down into the ground and that wipes out all the power and it bounces harmlessly into the hands of Jordan Pickford.

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Best spell of the game so far for Brighton as they pass the ball around nicely. That, however, is often their problem in that they play some good stuff until they get into the opponent's box.

    Everton 1-0 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha, who scored the winner for Palace as they came from behind to beat Wolves in midweek, gets his first look at the Everton goal, trying to catch out Jordan Pickford.

But the England stopper gets his body behind it and makes a potentially difficult stop look pretty easy.

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

When Manchester City were celebrating that goal, Pep Guardiola called Bernardo Silva over to the touchline and spent about a minute giving him detailed instructions about what he expects from the Portuguese.

Silva didn't say anything. He just carried on drinking his water.

The statistics continue to make for ridiculous reading with that goal Erling Haaland's 16th in the Premier League already this season and it is the seventh home games in a row he has scored in.

It has also brought Manchester City to life and they are looking for a second.

Anthony Gordon has been excellent so far and is so close to scoring Everton's second. He strikes from range and the ball is dipping in under the bar before Vicente Guaita pushes it over the top.

Palace haven't really got going yet.

Wow. We said we'd run out of superlatives for this man.

The simplest goal City will score. Ederson plays a long ball and Haaland is one-on-one with Adam Webster, but it is shoulder-to-shoulder.

Sanchez's depth perception is all wrong. He shouldn't have come out.

Palace have just had their first real spell of possession but Joel Ward's cross at the end of it was poor.

Everton are still on top and they have had so much joy down the right-hand side through Anthony Gordon and Alex Iwobi linking up in particular.

    Erling Haaland (21 mins)

    Here he is!

Ederson plays a brilliant ball over the top and Erling Haaland chests the ball past Robert Sanchez then shrugs off a defender before slotting into the empty net.

There's a check by VAR to see if Haaland fouled to go through but it was just sheer strength and the goal stands.

  20. 'I have no idea how we can lose this game'published at 15:20 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to MOTD: "[It feels] As low as possible. Massive, massive blow because I have no idea how we can lose this game to be honest. Not that we played exceptionally well, not that I expect that but it would have been nice.

"With all the changes we had to make and with the intense week behind us it was clear we had to make a fight of it. The boys did that. The chances they had were pretty much counter attacks where we gave the ball too easily away. We were dangerous and a real threat and the set pieces were 100% chances pretty much. That we didn’t finish one of these off is the main blow if you want because we cannot put them in better, you cannot move better and if you have one player completely free in the box that is the perfect set piece.

"The goal we conceded was giving the ball away in a situation which should not happen, then the set piece was sloppy and they finished it off."
