Spot on Stephene (15:43). There is no doubt that part of Newcastle’s transformation is being able to bring in some top-class players to work for the best young manager in the country but that isn’t the whole story and getting the best out of existing talent is an even greater achievement. Not a Newcastle fan but really enjoying their football.

Ibrahim, Leicester-based NUFC fan: It's a bit unfair to say that the last time Leicester had a shot on target in a Premier League game was 12 November, given that there was the small matter of the World Cup break in the intervening period.

As a Saints fan I'm not worried, our sensible owners have brought in a manager with lots of experience of the Premier...oh hang on a minute...
Jasper
Saints fan watching in Norway. Both teams had 6 weeks off, Brighton look sharp, great passing and deserving a lead. Saints are a shadow of a PL team.

Well I think it's fair to say that I'm looking forward to Championship football next season and League 1 the season after. Southampton look absolutely dreadful. Totally lack anything formation wise with a totally tea bag defence.
Laurie
Ralph wasn't the problem at Saints as those players are proving. Jones had 6 weeks with them, plays same players, same formations, same results

Newcastle are in total control here, clinical when they have had a chance and will be delighted to take a lead into the break.
Leicester have had some individual errors but they don't look a poor side. What they are missing is someone in the final third to get the ball down and pick a pass. They are missing James Maddison - it's all too hectic.

Newcastle have picked up from where they left off before the World Cup break.
A sixth league win in a row is in touching distance after a clinical first half at the King Power.
Leicester have been poor at the back and toothless in attack.
HT: Southampton 0-2 Brighton

Former Southampton defender on BBC Radio 5 live
It couldn't have gone much worse in the opening 45 minutes for Nathan Jones and his team. Brighton are the deserved leaders - they have been that little bit sharper, popping around the passes.
It is going to take a big team-talk from Jones if Southampton have anywhere near a chance of getting back into this game.
FT: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
Brentford
Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Amazon Prime: "I think we deserved the win but once they got to 2-2 they were very dangerous, so with that in mind it's a very good performance.
"The players are very disappointed. Being Brentford, the second lowest budget, playing Tottenham who are fourth in the league with all their world class players, I think that's very, very impressive."
On set-pieces: "It's a big thing and I think it's an area we are better than most. We have to find the small tweaks because they have better players than us so we need a team performance and a game plan.
"I would love to go toe to toe with them but we need to win. It's not bad to play five top six teams this season I think and only lose to Arsenal.
"We said three things to win the game. Stop Harry Kane, win the transition battles and win the set-piece battle."
On the January transfer window: "Sell no win, and if we can, to strengthen the squad is always nice. This league is relentless and so strong. The top six plus Newcastle are almost out of reach. The other 13 including us need to see if we can get as high as possible, so that's the ambition."
FT: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur
Here's what Tottenham manager Antonio Conte had to say, speaking on Amazon Prime.
First, on England striker Harry Kane: "He had a programme to follow [after the World Cup] and when he came back he was good.
"You know his importance for us, his personality, his character. For us he is an important player and I am happy that he scored today."
On Kane's late opportunity to win the match: "The cross was good but the central defender is physically really strong and showed a great desire. "We could win at the end but it's OK. It's the first game after a month without football."
On the competition for a top-four place: "You have to change many aspects to become a winner.
"In the top four now there is not Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United. We are talking about big, big clubs with the ability to go into the transfer market."
FT: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to BBC MOTD: "The biggest mistake you can do in football is to doubt Harry Kane. He is a machine. To underestimate his strength is a big mistake. He has the quality to be number one in the world."
FT: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
Brentford
Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to BBC MOTD: "What a game to reopen the Premier League with. We're glad we were a part of that. On the other hand we were completely in control and on top of this game at 2-0. We had a massive chance to make it 3-1 and then they equalised. Overall it was a very good performance from the boys. I was pleased with that.
"This team has big belief in itself and believe we can beat anyone on the day. We have a strong unit and a strong team. We try to support one another and create these magic moments. Unfortunately we couldn't get three points today."
On Ivan Toney: "He has now scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season. He was impressive and a big threat all game. He is working hard for the team."
FT: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, speaking to BBC MOTD: "My assessment about the second part of the game was really good. It was an exciting game. I like to win every time but I know very well it is not possible.
"Brentford made big trouble for Manchester City. They created problems especially in the first part of the game. They went 1-0 up and in the second half we conceded from a corner. Then I think we played really well. We hit the cross bar.
"To have another comeback is positive but on the other hand we need to be more stable. It was our intention to start strongly. We have to continue to work and try and improve our level.
"Since last season we have made a good step. Now we have to continue to push ourselves. It is not easy. We have shown big character."
Southampton 0-2 Brighton
Boos from the home fans say it all.
Nathan Jones' first league game at St Mary's is not going to plan.
Brighton totally dominant.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham
The whistle goes at Selhurst Park, with Palace looking really rusty after the World Cup break.
Fulham have dominated possession and grabbed a deserved opener through Bobby Decordova-Reid before Palace had Tyrick Mitchell sent off moments later.
Southampton 0-2 Brighton
Almost three!
Another slick move in injury-time sees Adam Lallana find Kaoru Mitoma in the left channel and his gorgeous touch allows him to cross towards Solly March.
This time, the Saints can clear the danger and defence quickly turns to attack.
James Ward-Prowse's shot is blocked before Robert Sanchez collects another ball into his six-yard box seconds later.
Leicester 0-3 Newcastle
Newcastle United are SECOND in the Premier League table as things stand.
Leicester are booed off at the break.
Everton 1-1 Wolves
Yerry Mina's opener cancelled out by Daniel Podence's equaliser.
Southampton 0-2 Brighton
Brighton's dominance is illustrated by them having 71% possession and making 329 accurate passes - which is more than double of Southampton.
Not only are they passing precisely, they are passing with purpose and in the Saints half.
Southampton are struggling for answers.
Everton 1-1 Wolves
Two shaky defences on show here.
Their centre-backs get in a tangle and Joe Hodge wriggles through, but then is dispossessed as he cuts back onto his left peg.
