    Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham

Michael Olise finds some space in the right side of the Fulham box but slices it high and wide.

Tyrick Mitchell is the first Palace player to be sent off since Wilfried Zaha exactly a year ago today, when the Eagles were beaten 3-0 at Tottenham.

  2. 'Great energy and spirit'published at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Leicester 0-3 Newcastle

    Steve Stone
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

As a Newcastle fan watching this you would be absolutely delighted. You would have worried about whether they could keep the momentum going after the World Cup break but they absolutely have. They have pushed right up the pitch and have great energy and spirit about them. It could be four or five to be honest with you.

Just three minutes added on because this isn't the World Cup.

Sho: Newcastle surely have to invest in January and build on this momentum. Top four is there for them if they want it. This is without Wilson, Isak and Saint-Maximin.

Michael: E I E I E O, up the Premier League we go. Lads - we might need a new song soon.

Do they do Christmas turkey balti pies at St Mary's? Probably worth heading downstairs and finding out if you're a home fan.

The Brighton supporters are giving it an 'Ole!' between passes as we tick towards half-time.

Every time I see Almiron and Joelinton it's like watching entirely new players. Howe has turned them into top-class players. Never mind Keegan's Entertainers. I love Eddie Howe's Transformers!

  8. CLOSE!published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Everton 1-1 Wolves

Nathan Collins isn't having a good game for Wolves.

For the second time in the game, he gives the ball away deep in his own half but is not punished again.

Neal Maupay is the beneficiary this time, weaving right and left but a resulting shot is straight at Jose Sa.

    Leicester 0-3 Newcastle

Should probably be 4-0 to Newcastle as Joe Willock runs onto a ball down the left and cuts it back for Chris Wood, who lifts a shot onto the roof of the net from about 12 yards.

Good to see Brighton doing well, quality side and well run. Saints woeful though, by far the worst team in the Premier league and arguably worse than most Championship teams too.

  11. 'Mitchell is very upset'published at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham

    Stephen Warnock
Former England defender on Final Score

Mitchell is just late to the ball and high. He knows it - he hasn't moaned about the decision and he's very upset as he walks across the pitch.

The reaction of the player tells you everything. He realises he's made a mistake and it is the correct decision.

A friend of mine who supports Newcastle says this is the best 35 minutes he can remember from a Newcastle team in recent years.

  13. 'Stop the danger at source'published at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Southampton 0-2 Brighton

    Francis Benali
Former Southampton defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu tries to palm the ball away but just pushes it and deflects it on to Romain Perraud. It came from another attack down the left for Brighton. As a full-back you need some help some time to stop the danger at source.

    Everton 1-1 Wolves

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui waved an imaginary card when Nathan Patterson shoved Daniel Podence a moment ago. Fair to say that did not go down well with the locals sat behind him.

The cameras show James Maddison, who is watching in the stands dressed nice and warm.

He still has that injury which meant he never played at the World Cup.

A strange situation? Not for me to say.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Everton 1-1 Wolves

  18. RED CARDpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2022

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham

Tyrick Mitchell shown the red cardImage source, Reuters

Palace are up against it now. Tyrick Mitchell stretches for the ball but he goes in late and high on Kenny Tete and catches the Fulham right-back halfway up his shin.

The tackle wasn't malicious, just misjudged, but referee Andy Madley has no other option than to show the Palace defender a straight red card. There are no complaints from Mitchell or his team-mates.

If Tom the Toon fan (15:10) had said “Champions League place is within our grasp and we even have a remote chance of the title” then I think I would go along with that. There will be tougher tests than Leicester and keeping this going for a whole season will be challenging, but why not?

Chris - not a Toon fan but enjoying their football

Joelinton won’t get many easier headers than that. He barely left the ground.
