I hope Antonio Conte has a class team talk planned because this hasn't been good.

Spurs 0-1 Sporting

Coates rightly sees yellow for attacking the ball at the back post, using his hand to get it over the line. It is a great ball in though, how many warnings do Tottenham need?
Spurs 0-1 Sporting
Hero to zero.
Sporting captain Sebastian Coates stoops in to 'head' a cross into the back of the net.
Is that a 2-0 lead? Nope because he actually used his arm to score, not his head.
Disallowed and a yellow card too.
Mo Salah (41 mins)
Big goal for Liverpool! Big mistake by the Ajax goalkeeper.
Jordan Henderson wins the ball on the left and flicks a beaut of ball into the box. Ajax keeper Remko Pasveer races off his line and Mo Salah takes full advantage to knock the ball over him and into the empty net.
Ajax 0-0 Liverpool
Harvey Elliott whips a fierce ball into the box and Remko Pasveer is not certain it is going wide so makes a slightly awkward save, fumbling the ball momentarily with Mo Salah hoping to pounce.

Paul: This new Liverpool formation is SO narrow. Very easy to defend against. Without Diaz there's nothing happening on the left and Robertson is isolated.
Stevo: Joe Gomez is the footballing equivalent of rugby's Dan Cole. Lots of good things but always going to give countless, needless free kicks.
Tipsforlife: Whenever I watch TAA defend, he never looks truly interested in defending. It's almost like getting his body shape right isn't cool. He almost wants to look casual. And I say that as a Liverpool fan and a fan of what he can do going forward.
Spurs 0-1 Sporting
A long way to go but this would be three defeats in a row for Spurs. Antonio Adan catches another easy cross, this time from Ivan Perisic.
Ajax 0-0 Liverpool
Jeers from the home fans, who aren't happy with a couple of Liverpool challenges and the referee's decision to let them go unpunished.
Just over five minutes to go until the break and Ajax will be disappointed they are not ahead. They've had two really big chances.

David: Lloris was very slow to get down to that - he really is struggling at the moment.
Steve: Spurs players look like they've never met each other before, let alone played together.
Nicholas: The plan of Kane doing something brilliant or winning a penalty…I think teams have worked it out.
Spurs 0-1 Sporting
Spurs' best chance of the game probably as Harry Kane plays a through ball to Son Heung-min, who jinks in from the corner of the box and curls a shot towards the far bottom corner. Simple save though.

Tristan: I can see all 3 British teams losing tonight unfortunately.
David: Scottish teams not making the case for inclusivity over elitism in European competition. Rangers and Celtic have been quite embarrassing and out of their depth.
Spurs 0-1 Sporting
Lucas Moura plays a ball over the top to nobody and it's a simple catch for the Sporting keeper. A few groans at the Spurs Stadium.
Ajax 0-0 Liverpool
Big, big chance for Ajax!
The hosts suddenly find themselves three versus one and Dusan Tadic is picked out unmarked inside the box. He drives at goal but Trent Alexander-Arnold does really well to position himself in front of the shot.

Dan: All respect to Ajax but this is just utter dirge from us. Fine we have injuries but that doesn't excuse not being able to put five passes together. Something is up behind the scenes at Liverpool.
Peter: It's amazing how losing just one player (Mane) from a team can make such a difference!

Elliot: Spurs fan here. We seriously lack guile, vision, and creativity. A dramatic regression since those CL games against Madrid and Ajax. All we can do is pass the ball backwards!
Frances: Why does Conte insist on playing 5 at the back with double pivot no matter the opposition? Kind of reminds you of someone…
Spurs 0-1 Sporting
Spurs have had three shots, just one on target. Their expected goals tally is 0.03 so far. That is 3% of a goal.
Ajax 0-0 Liverpool
Liverpool are enjoying their best spell of possession now with Ajax, having started in swashbuckling fashion, now largely camped outside their box.
Andy Robertson makes a good run but drives into the sidenetting from a really tight angle.

Tottenham's best hope is to get the ball to Harry Kane and see if he can create something, maybe get on the half turn and ping the ball to Son.
Bayern Munich lead Barcelona 2-0 now thanks to another Premier League legend.
Sadio Mane got the first and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has netted the second.
