For all Liverpool's good play, they need to get Firmino in the game. They can't find their number nine. It's all Nunez and Salah down the sides. They need to start finding Firmino and getting him into the action so he can affect the game.

  2. 'Villa looked fresher - that's unacceptable'published at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's not acceptable that you concede a goal so quickly in the second half on the counter. Our players are experienced. You have to read the game and get right the organisation. Not concede two goals [early in the game] - that's totally unnecessary.

"You have to win your battles. At the start of the game we could have been better on ball. It starts with the players following the rules.

"It looked like they [Aston Villa][ were fresher. That's not acceptable. Players have to take responsibility and be ready."

  3. 'VAR made the correct decision'published at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

I can't help but feel that Alexander-Arnold comes across Sessegnon or maybe Sessegnon tries to buy a penalty. It looked worse in real time that it did on the replay. On second thoughts, I think the VAR made the correct decision.

Tottenham fans want a penalty as Trent Alexander-Arnold leans on Ryan Sessegnon, who hits the deck.

Referee Andrew Madley says no and VAR says it isn't worthy of changing his decision. Risky from Alexander-Arnold, but he gets away with that one.

Just like the rest of the weekend has been, it's 100 miles an hour. What a great weekend of football.

Liverpool have been rampaging down the right side of the Spurs defence from the kick-off and it was almost inevitable the goal would come there but what a finish by Mohamed Salah. One touch then a lethal left-foot finish.

It seems to awoken Spurs from their usual slow start.

We've just seen a reaction from Spurs after 15 minutes. I can't help but feel Alisson made two huge saves for Liverpool there.

Edon: Will there ever be a match where Spurs do not concede the first goal? Utterly bonkers.

So close to an instant response from the hosts. Ivan Perisic has a header from Harry Kane's cross but Alisson has done superbly to get a touch on to it to push it on to the post.

Spurs then come again and it falls to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and he looks to curl it into the far corner, but Alisson is well placed to dive on to it.

Let-off for Liverpool, thanks to excellent goalkeeping.

  9. 'Brilliant attacking move'published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I questioned Nunez's options earlier on in the game but this time he makes the right choice. The young Uruguayan take a brilliant touch, he could shoot but he sees that Salah is in a better position. He rolls it to the Egyptian and Salah makes no mistake at all.

One touch with his right to set himself, a left foot drilled shot into the bottom left hand corner into the bottom of Lloris' goal.

What a swift, clean, brilliant attacking move from Liverpool.

GOAL - Tottenham 0-1 Liverpoolpublished at 11 mins

    Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have been superb in the opening 11 minutes and they have the lead in London.

It's a run down the left from Andy Robertson and then a great link-up between Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, who takes a touch and fires his shot into the bottom corner with Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot.

  11. 'We showed we have character'published at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

FT: West Ham 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira to BBC Sport: "It was really tight. We had that chance with Michael [Olise] at the end. It was deflected but we know in that position he’s dangerous when he opens himself up like that.

"The feeling is good - not just winning the game but the performance from the start. We played with a lot of discipline and quality and moved the ball around. We’re growing up as a team. We showed quality and resilience and managed to get back into the game and win it.

"The VAR is there to do a job. It went in our favour and the referee was brave enough to change his mind.

"We showed we have character and personality. We showed it again. Everyone wanted the ball, nobody was hiding. It would be good for us to take our chances.

"We still have a lot to improve. The game was really difficult. We still have a lot to learn. We didn’t make the right decision in the final third and we weren’t clinical enough to score chances.

"The aim is always to try to improve players individually and collectively. The league is really tight, realy difficult. I believe the performance today will give us more belief and confidence."

Tottenham need a win to go back to third, while Liverpool will move up to eighth - above Fulham and Crystal Palace - with a win in London.

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Nunez is becoming a huge factor in this game. Alexander-Arnold zings the ball across. Nunez gets his shot off and it just bounces and curls back past Lloris' post.

I tend to feel Tottenham react better than Liverpool when they go behind. They have done very well this season when they have had to come from behind.

Another chance for Liverpool, it's been a fine start from them and again it's Darwin Nunez after excellent work from Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the Uruguayan's radar is a bit off.

  17. 'Not acceptable'published at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to MOTD:

"We lost the game at the start of first half and second half and that is not acceptable. They looked more fresh and more ready. We need to be more sharp. The result is really clear. It never lies. Today we were not good enough.

"We didn't get the right organisation. Wee created chances and good chances at 2-1. But you are really disappointed to concede at the start of the second half."

  18. 'Poor play'published at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Glenn Murray
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Mo Salah was breaking his neck to reach the edge of the box. Nunez could have rolled it to Salah but he takes the shot. Poor play from Nunez in my opinion.

  19. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool's Darwin Nunez is heavily involved in the first few minutes, he tries to pull it back from the deadball line after taking on his opponent but runs out of space and it's out for a goal kick.

  20. 'Kane will always be a threat'published at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2022

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have gone with an attacking line up Salah and Nunez up front.

Son missing for Spurs, but Kane is what he is, he'll always be a threat whether he's coming in from deep or whether he's going to be that main focal point. So I'm hoping that there's going to be a load of goals again.
