West Ham are home and dry in Europa Conference League Group B. No sweat. With 15 points on the board - nine more than any other team in the group - they can rock up in Romania tonight without a Europa care in the world.

David Moyes says he will send out a young, experimental Hammers side to face FCSB.

Moyes' side host Crystal Palace in a London derby on Sunday (14:00 GMT) and Moyes plans to rest key players when they play in Bucharest.

Freddie Potts - son of former Hammers skipper Steve Potts - Keenan Forson and Oliver Scarles may be involved.

"We've left the bulk of the players back home," said Moyes on Wednesday.

"We're going to give some of the younger players an opportunity in the game.

"We're going to give them an opportunity, and maybe some of the others will get an opportunity as well, because in some of the other games we weren't able to do so."

The Hammers have a 100% winning record in the group and could become the first team in the Europa Conference League to win all six of their group matches.

"The biggest motivation for us is that we've won the group and we now need to finish it off," added Moyes.

  4. Arteta to field 'really competitive' sidepublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

    Arsenal v Zurich (20:00 GMT)

Premier League-leaders Arsenal have a big Premier League clash to think about this coming weekend, with them facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday lunchtime.

Ideally, Mikel Arteta would have liked to put the Europa League group to bed last week, but defeat at PSV means it remains alive and he can't afford to rest too many of the big guns.

The Spaniard has said he will field a "really competitive team" against the Swiss side tonight. You can take a couple of ways - either it means near full strength, or Arteta has complete and utter faith in those player's currently considered second-string in his squad.

Will it be a case of starting with the main lads, get the job done and then think about bringing them off for a breather ahead of Sunday?

Just beating Real Sociedad - let alone by two clear goals - will be no easy task.

They have won all five of their games in the Europa League so far, conceding just one goal.

Erik ten Hag is well aware what his Manchester United side must do tonight:

"It's clear," he said. "Obviously it's important we win. We know what we have to do: two goals difference.

"But we like these challenges. If you want to win a trophy, you have to beat everyone.

"It's difficult to win games here, but we have a plan for that and we will do everything to get it done."

  9. Gunner take top spot?published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

    Arsenal v Zurich (20:00 GMT)

Arsenal are already guaranteed a top-two finish in Europa League Group A. So job done then, right? Nope. There's a big difference between finishing first and second in the group these days.

Top spot means an automatic place in the last 16. Finish second, though, and you will play in the knockout round play-offs, where you'll face one of the teams dropping down from the Champions League having finished third in the group.

Barcelona, Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon are among the teams that will compete in the knockout round play-offs in February 2023.

So the Gunners will be keen to take the more comfortable route, which means holding on to the spot they currently hold. They will seal it if they take one more point than second-placed PSV manage.

On the plus side, tonight they're facing bottom-placed Zurich, who they beat 2-1 away in September.

  10. Team news - Van De Beek returns as Rashford drops to benchpublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

Real Sociedad v Man Utd (17:45 GMT)

There is no David Silva for Real Sociedad.

The four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City is one of several players injured.

Former Newcastle midfielder Mikel Merino does make the starting XI along with ex-Bournemouth defender Diego Rico.

Alexander Sorloth is a former Crystal Palace forward.

Real Sociedad XI: Remiro, Rico, Pacheco, Le Normand, Gorosabel, Merino, Zubimendi, Mendez, Marín, Fernandez, Sorloth.

Victor Lindelof returns to the defence as Harry Maguire, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford drop to the bench.

It is a tantalising shootout for first place between Real Sociedad and Manchester United tonight.

The Spanish side are in the driving seat as they are currently top of Group E, three points ahead of Manchester United.

If the visitors win then it comes down to head-to-head. With Real Sociedad winning 1-0 at Old Trafford, Manchester United must win by two clear goals tonight to finish in first place.

For whoever finishes first it is straight into the last 16. For the runner up it is a two-legged play-off to navigate.

Team news has dropped, let's see who is in.

Progress out of the Europa League group stage has already been secured for both Arsenal and Manchester United, but that doesn't mean the job is completely done just yet.

Both are in action tonight with top spot still to play for in their respective groups, and securing that brings with it an automatic place in the last 16.

Manchester United are up first at Real Sociedad, before the Gunners host Zurich in the late game.
