Shane: Studs into Casemiro's ankle doesn't warrant a booking but Martinez winning the ball does. It's only because of poor refereeing decisions in the first game that United have to win by 2 tonight.

Marc: Eriksen has been off the pace all game. Too slow to release the ball, keeps losing it and isn't passing forward. I think he needs a few games rest.

And now Brais Mendez is booked as he holds back Luke Shaw as the full-back attempts to break forward.

A little bit stop-start at the moment.

Lisandro Martinez is booked for a foul on Brais Mendez, who picks himself up to take the free kick but it is a poor one.

Paul: Can’t help but think Sociedad would be more threatening if David Silva was fit. It’s a shame he isn’t. Man Utd deserve be winning this game though even if their goal was their only shot on target.

Colin: Diego Dalot has been a revelation this season. Shows what a regular run in the first team can do for confidence!

  9. Team news - Saka on the bench as Arsenal make seven changespublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

Winger Bukayo Saka makes the bench after there had been fears he could miss the World Cup with England, where he is joined by the likes of captain Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, White, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Elneny, Sambi Lokonga, Nelson, Vieira, Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus.

More boos are directed at Casemiro as he goes down after he is caught on the ankle by Martin Zubimendi. There is no doubting it is a foul.

Zred: United are playing the same way they’ve been playing under Ole. Only difference is they have quality players now.

Benhard: The hype around Man United youngsters, last year it was Elanga and now Garnacho, eventually will leave just like James Garner.

Great defending by Lisandro Martinez again as he gets his head in front of Alexander Sorloth to prevent a sure goal and instead concede the corner.

Bright start to the second half by the hosts, however.

At 18 years and 125 days, Alejandro Garnacho has become Manchester United's youngest non-English goalscorer in European football, surpassing the record set by George Best in 1964 when he was 18 years and 158 days.

OK then, off we go with the second half with Manchester United needing that second goal (and not conceding) to finish in first place and avoid a two-legged play off in February next year.

  16. Team news - 16-year-old Scarles starts for West Hampublished at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

FCSB v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

David Moyes has come good on his promise to field a somewhat experimental West Ham side for their game in Romania against FCSB.

Only one player from the 1-0 Premier League loss at Manchester United keeps his spot - midfielder Flynn Downes.

The defence has a first-team feel, with Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson, Angelo Ogbonna and Nayef Aguerd making up a back four.

Midfield is interesting, with 16-year-old Oliver Scarles lining up on the left. Conor Coventry and Manuel Lanzini also come in.

Up front, 18-year-old Divin Mubama partners Pablo Fornals.

FCSB lost 2-1 to Universitatea Cluj at the weekend - a defeat that saw manager Nicolea Dica walk away from the club.

Mihai Pintilii is in charge tonight and brings Octavian Popescu into his attack in place of Florinel Coman.

Risto Radunovic and Rachid Bouhenna start at the back, while Marco Dulca and Razvan Oaida come in to midfield.

  17. Magnificent Martinezpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

    Real Sociedad 0-1 Man Utd

There's been a number of very good Manchester United performances in that first half but I thought Lisandro Martinez was brilliant. Headed everything away and was always in the right place at the right time.

Despite all that, this will suit Real Sociedad as they are going through as group winners as things stand.
