Is Paul Robinson serious? Richarlison 'deserves' to start over Son? He hasnt scored a single league goal this season! Madness.

Here come the teams. The atmosphere is usually a bit flat for early kick-offs. Not at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today. But this is no ordinary fixture.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's one change from the Dortmund game with Raheem [Sterling] coming in for [Mykhailo] Mudryk and we thought the performance there was strong one. The Southampton game was a tough one for us.

"The side that finished against Dortmund is close to what we are doing today and we hope to maintain the same performance levels. We need to score it's as simple as that, against Dortmund we did everything but that. Good between the boxes but one action in the second half cost us apart from that we had a strong game."

On Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being on the bench: "It's a nod to that [lack of goals], a nod to his reaction, how he's trained and his little bit of experience that I think can help. He's trained well and pushed himself back into contention."

Graham Potter lost some Chelsea fans before he stepped foot in the club. Thomas Tuchel won the Champions League in his first season in charge. Even though the team was on a bad run, the fans didn't want Tuchel to go.

Whoever was his replacement, there was always going to be big shoes to fill.

I'm telling you now, if fans don't want you at their club - it doesn't matter that the hierarchy say they believe in you - in the end the fans will win.

There are hundreds of fans of Son Heung-min inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Some of them are waving the flag of South Korea.

A long way to come in the hope of seeing a player come off the bench.

  6. 'Difficult to leave Son out'published at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham assistant head coach Cristian Stellini, speaking to Sky Sports: " We have to keep the momentum. It is a good moment for us. We have worked well in the week, we hope we will play a good game and the energy we need to do that is important."

On Son Heung-min being named on the bench: "It was a difficult decision but it was not the only decision we had to take - we had many. We are lucky we had Antonio [Conte] to help us make the decision and we are happy with the team."

    Tottenham. Leeds United. Borussia Dortmund.

It doesn’t get bigger than the next 10 days or so for Chelsea as they try to salvage something from what’s been a miserable campaign so far.

The first hurdle comes when they travel to fierce rivals Spurs - a side they haven’t lost to in the league since 2018.

Historically, they’ve managed to produce some of their best football against Tottenham. They’ll need to do the same today against a stubborn but inconsistent Spurs side who are fourth and have a record-breaking goalscorer Chelsea could only dream of...

Son Heung-min hasn't enjoyed having extra competition for places this season, some players really thrive on that, but he has struggled.

All of a sudden he isn't the first pick and he hasn't been the same player.

I think Richarlison deserves the start and deserves a run of games.

I know you're all bursting to find out Chris Sutton's prediction for this match...

What a game this is. Chelsea's record against Tottenham is excellent - they have won more Premier League games against them than any other opponents (33), and have taken 20 points from the past 24 available in this fixture, but it all counts for little here.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter really needs a win because I think Blues fans are at tipping point and would not stand for losing to their bitter rivals. I actually admire Chelsea owner Todd Boehly for sticking with Potter so far but that will change if his results don't improve.

This Chelsea team just can't score goals though, while Tottenham are doing all right at the moment, with the old Harry Kane and Son Heung-min double act working again.

It all points to a Tottenham win but they have been very inconsistent - or 'Spursy' - this season and I just have a feeling this might be the day where things go Potter's way for once.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

A very strong line up from Chelsea today which also sees the return of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the bench. The Blues are 11 points behind Spurs going into this match.

Antonio Conte hasn't been that much of a miss because Cristian Stellini has done a brilliant job. Tottenham have won every time Conte has not been there.

Listen, Tottenham are not playing the best style of football. They are not getting the best out of Son Heung-min. He is a shadow of the player he was.

People say Tottenham are having a bad season but they're fourth in the table, they're still in the Champions League - I think they can beat AC Milan - and they're still in the FA Cup.

    It's not a bad season.

Graham Potter does not know his best XI.

That's why he is not getting results and Chelsea fans are right to complain.

It's not good enough. With the squad of players they have got, Chelsea should be doing far better.

Tottenham are back in fourth place.

We have been having an inconsistent season to say the least, but maybe now is the time to capitalise on other teams under-performing and finish the campaign on a high.

Spurs seem to play more like themselves under Cristian Stellini - pressing higher up the pitch and passing the ball faster too.

  17. Trouble on the touchlinepublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2023

    Tottenham v Chelsea (13:30 GMT)

The last time Tottenham and Chelsea met there was an angry confrontation at the end of the match between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte.

Tuchel, of course, is long gone while Conte is again expected to be missing as he recovers from recent surgery.

Spurs assistant head coach Cristian Stellini oversaw last week's 2-0 win over West Ham.

I wanted Graham Potter to get a big job. I thought the job he did at Brighton was excellent and I thought he was ready to make the next step.

I thought he would be a success at Chelsea. It hasn't worked out.

I'm not completely writing him off because I still think he will turn it around with time. But you don't get time in the Premier League.
