Time now for the massed ranks in blue to get raucous in the national stadium as this semi-final now has a whole new dimension.

That goal from former Aberdeen player Ryan Jack has sucked the life out of the red half of Hampden.

Aberdeen have looked flat in this second half. The gauntlet has been thrown down by Rangers.

  7. Roofe and Kamara onpublished at 73mins

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

Rangers make a double change, with Kemar Roofe on up front in place of Alfredo Morelos, while it is Glen Kamara for Malik Tillman in midfield.

  8. Postpublished at 72mins

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

The ball is bouncing dangerously around the Rangers penalty box.

Leighton Clarkson's low drive strikes the outside of a post, but it would not have counted anyway as fellow midfielder Matty Kennedy was offside.

I think it's rash, there's a bit of intent. I don't think it's a red, there's not enough in it. It's not a straight leg and it won't injure a player. It's physical, a yellow card is enough in my book

  10. YELLOW CARD McCrorie (Aberdeen)published at 69mins

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

A frustrated Ross McCrorie is booked for a swiping challenge that halts a rampaging Ryan Kent in his tacks.

It quickly follows a yellow card for Aberdeen goalkeeping coach Craig Samson as tempers reach an edge.

  11. Postpublished at 66mins

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

Ross McCrorie has a couple of League Cup goals this season already and the former Rangers defender lumbers upfield and fires a drive just wide via a deflection.

Rangers are all at sea at the resulting corner but manage to block a couple of efforts and survive still level.

  12. Well-worked goalpublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

Scales just tried to make himself look big. It gives Kelle Roos no chance, but brilliant play from Ryan Jack. He's not known for his bursts forward. It's a very well-worked goal through Kent and Jack.

Fair play to Morelos, he sets it up perfect. I don't know if Roos would save the initial shot.

  13. Jack 'enjoyed that goal'published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

    Neil McCann
Former Rangers winger on BBC Sportsound

It took a little nick on the way past Roos, but nonetheless, when it comes back to Jack - what about the flick to Morelos? He doesn't stop or admire it, he gets on his bike to get to the edge of the box.

It actually took a wicked deflection off Scales. It's a slice of fortune, but it's so well played.

Ryan Jack takes a lot of stick in this fixture, but it looked like he really enjoyed that goal.

  14. Hayes replaces Dukpublished at 63mins

    Rangers 1-1 Aberdeen

A double blow for Aberdeen after the loss of the goal.

Dangerous, in-form winger Duk took a knock in the first half and his game is now up as he is replaced with former Celtic wing-back Jonny Hayes.

    Ryan Jack

    It has been coming!

Ryan Jack starts and finishes a fine move to equalise against his former side.

The Scotland midfielder collects the ball back from Alfredo Morelos and his low drive takes a deflection off on-loan Celtic defender Liam Scales and nestles in the far corner.

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

A bit of treatment for Kelle Roos, but the Aberdeen goalkeeper is fit to continue.

Meanwhile, Jonny Hayes looks like he is preparing to come on for the Pittodrie side.

  17. Dangerous gamepublished at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

Aberdeen are trying to make it to tight for Rangers to play their little passes, but it's a dangerous tactic to employ. They need to be trying to push out.

They don't have to be at the half-way line, but get to the edge of the box and squeeze the game a bit more.

  18. Postpublished at 56mins

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen are sitting back as Rangers probe for an opening in and around the penalty box.

However, the ball is just not falling in the way that would allow a shot on target.

Meanwhile, Rangers have Kemar Roofe and Scott Arfield warming up on the touchline.

  19. Happy Goodwin?published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

If you're Aberdeen, you're probably quite happy that it's getting a bit meaty, a bit scrappy and there's not too much space for Rangers to build things up, particularly in the final third.

I don't think Jim Goodwin will be unhappy with the way the second half has started. This is what happened at Pittodrie four weeks ago too.

    Rangers 0-1 Aberdeen

A nice lay-off from Malik Tillman sets up Ryan Jack on the edge of the Aberdeen penalty box, but his fellow midfielder fires wastefully over as it takes a bobble on the rutted surface against the latter's former team.
