    League One preview

Plymouth's trip to fellow high-fliers Barnsley is the stand-out fixture from the League One fixture programme this afternoon, pitting second against fourth.

Michael Duff's Tykes have won seven of the past nine in the third tier, while Plymouth have won their past two matches to keep pace with leaders Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have a long trip down to Portsmouth this afternoon, while two other challengers in fifth-placed Bolton and Ipswich in third meet in the north west.

Two former Premier League stars and interesting characters are pitted together, as Duncan Ferguson's struggling Forest Green Rovers entertain Joey Barton's Bristol Rovers.

Oxford's new boss Liam Manning will look on as Derby County head to the Kassam.

    League Two preview

One of the 11 scheduled League Two fixtures today has fallen foul of the inclement weather. Mansfield's game with leaders Leyton Orient was called off yesterday because of heavy snow.

Orient are miles clear at the top, but beneath them only seven points separate Carlisle in second and Sutton in ninth.

On Friday, Salford missed the chance to close up on the automatic promotion places as they lost 4-3 at Crewe.

At the other end, bottom club Rochdale are away at FA Cup quarter-finalists Grimsby and second-bottom Crawley host Harrogate, who start 19th in the table.

And there's a first match in the dugout for new Colchester boss Ben Garner, who had just a watching brief for last weekend's loss at Bradford. Stockport are their opponents today.

Blackpool have been second best today. The quality was just not there.

Having lost Gary Madine, they only have one striker in Jerry Yates so how are they going to create chances?

They need to find a way to create chances and get themselves in front in a game.

    FT: Bristol City 2-0 Blackpool

    Chris Honor
Former Bristol City defender, BBC Radio Bristol

I thought it was excellent. First-half we didn't quite get the goals we deserved.

Second-half we got goals but our performance didn't really deserve it in terms of the context.

Bristol City really did well, really entertaining, a well deserved three points.

Bristol City take all three points thanks to second-half goals from Andi Weimann, with a storming strike for his first goal of 2023, and Alex Scott who had an easy tap-in into the net.

The Robins, for now, move up to 12th while Blackpool remain in the bottom three.

    Bristol City 2-0 Blackpool

A very well-worked attacking move from Blackpool as they move the ball from their own half and out wide, biding their time.

CJ Hamilton eventually picks out Sonny Carey in the box, but Carey's strike is a bit wild and it's fired over the bar.

Alex Scott got the ball out of his feet, all he did was took the ball nice and firm, looked at the goalkeeper and found the net really easily.

    Bristol City 2-0 Blackpool

Blackpool have never really been in this game. Other than the chance for Jerry Yates, they've not been able to put Bristol City under any pressure.

    Alex Scott (81 mins)

Alex Scott isn't going to get many goals easier than that.

Harry Cornick sends a cross into the box from the right and it's a total defensive howler from Blackpool who go to clear the ball and pass it straight into the feet of Scott.

He looks up and calmly strikes it into an open net. That's his first league goal of the campaign.

    Bristol City 1-0 Blackpool

Things are stalling a bit with just over 10 minutes to go.

Blackpool haven't created much but do break forward through Sonny Carey. He passes wide to Morgan Rogers in space yet his effort is pretty tame and Max O'Leary dives and easily saves it.

Bristol City's Anis Mehmeti in actionImage source, Rex Features

A decent chance to make it 2-0 to Bristol City as Anis Mehmeti picks the pocket of one Bristol City defender, skips past another and strikes the ball.

He's a bit off target though and the ball goes over the bar quite comfortably.
