It looks like the gameplan for Blackpool was to hit the ball long to Gary Madine, but they can't do that with Morgan Rogers and Jerry Yates.

Scrap that, Madine isn't able to go on and has signalled to the bench that he needs to go off as he sits down on the pitch.

That's a blow for Blackpool this early into the match.

Morgan Rogers comes on in his place.

    Bristol City 0-0 Blackpool

After having some treatment on what looks like his knee for the last couple of minutes, Gary Madine has got back up and is on his feet and albeit a bit gingerly is on the pitch again.

We're back up and running after that brief early pause.

Gary Madine is back in Blackpool's starting line up today and the big striker has already gone down injured just 30 seconds in.

He fell really heavily right on the dug out and is rolling around in a bit of discomfort as he tried to win the ball.

Blackpool come into the game today off the back of a morale-boosting draw (even if it was a 0-0…) to runaway league leaders Burnley last weekend.

A point didn’t do the team much good in their relegation battle, however, and they remain six points from safety and level with Huddersfield and Wigan below them, who are also in action later today.

Today feels like a must-win game for the Seasiders although their goal record is a bit low of late, having only scored 10 league goals in their previous 18 games. They face a tough test against a Bristol City team who are unbeaten at Ashton Gate in their last five games.

  13. Too late for the play-offs for the Robins?published at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2023

Bristol City v Blackpool (12.30 GMT)

Bristol City have been enjoying something of a 2023 revival. Apart from their 2-0 loss to Cardiff a week ago, the Robins are unbeaten in the league since the start of the new year.

Whether it’s too late to mount a push for the play-off places remains to be seen – there are 10 points between 14th placed Bristol City and Norwich in sixth with 11 matches to go this season – but manager Nigel Pearson hasn’t completely ruled it out.

The team have suffered a blow this week though, with the losses of midfielder Joe Williams, likely for the rest of the season, and defender Thomas Kalas for around six weeks, due to hamstring and knee injuries. Matty James also misses out due to an ankle injury.

Before getting stuck into today's action, let's remind ourselves what happened last night as Stoke beat Blackburn 3-2 to dent Rovers' hopes of sneaking into an automatic promotion spot.

Alex Neil's Potters raced to a 3-0 lead before Blackburn staged a late comeback, scoring twice in the last four minutes.

Rovers remain fourth in the table, nine points behind Sheffield United in second, while for Stoke this was only the second time this season they've won back-to-back matches.

The arrival of spring might be a bit delayed this year by the look of the snowfall we’ve had up and down the country this week, but we're now into March and the final stretch of the football season.

Regardless of the cold, we're wrapped up and ready for a weekend of Saturday football.

We warm-up for a full day of action up and down the leagues with a Championship match between Bristol City and Blackpool, which kicks off very shortly.
