    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham's managing director of football Fabio Paratici has resigned after an appeal following the extension of his ban from the game by Fifa.

Tottenham statement: "Fabio Paratici was unsuccessful with an appeal against his Italian Football Federation (FIGC) ban on certain football related activities.

"Fifa ruled to extend the ban worldwide and, whilst there continues to be a dispute as to the scope and extent of the ban, the current worldwide ban prevents Fabio from fulfilling his duties as our managing director of football.

"Fabio has consequently taken the decision to resign from his position at the club with immediate effect to focus on his legal position in respect of the FIGC and Fifa rulings."

Chairman Daniel Levy added: “This has been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to ensure that we allowed for due process to be followed. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football - we wish him well.

“As outlined in our year end results, we started several months ago to restructure our football operations and last week announced the appointment of Scott Munn as chief football officer to head up all the departments. We shall continue to strengthen our football functions over the coming months.”

It was a quarter-final to forget for Manchester United - but a second leg in Seville which is likely to stick in Erik ten Hag's mind when building his squad for next season.

In the first leg at Old Trafford, United were 2-0 up and cruising only for a pair of late own goals to leave the tie in the balance. The worst was yet to come.

Amid a thunderous atmosphere at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, Sevilla ran out comfortable 3-0 winners - 5-2 on aggregate - with two of their goals directly down to United errors.

Ten Hag's side only have themselves to blame. No wonder the United manager was furious in his post-match interviews.

"This was a great opportunity, a great occasion, to win something and we gave it away - we have to blame ourselves," he told BT Sport.

"It's gone, we can't change it. We have to look forward to Sunday [the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton], that's the next opportunity.

"It's unacceptable. We lost the battles, they had more passion, more desire, more willingness, that's difficult to win games.

"Everyone can see the demands and standard has to be higher in a club like Manchester United."

West Ham booked a Europa Conference League semi-final meeting with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar after a rousing comeback against Gent at London Stadium.

Michail Antonio scored twice, with Lucas Paqueta converting a penalty to make amends for his part in the visitors' 26th-minute opener.

Skipper Declan Rice added a brilliant third, finding the net with a low shot at the end of a surging run that started in his own half.

It was too much in the end for Gent, who were outclassed after taking the lead on aggregate through Hugo Cuypers' first-half strike.

Jarrod Bowen had a goal disallowed for handball, denying West Ham a fifth for only the second time in their European history.

As it is, they have a fifth semi-final to look forward to and retain the chance to emulate the 1965 European Cup Winners' Cup-winning side, and also to end a major trophy drought stretching back to 1980 and the FA Cup triumph against Arsenal.

Manchester United were dumped out of the Europa League quarter-finals following a dreadful second-leg performance in defeat by Sevilla.

United were well below their best - creating almost nothing going forward, overrun in midfield and making two terrible mistakes in defence - as they exited Europe with a whimper.

The Spanish side were gifted the lead after eight minutes when Youssef En-Nesyri finished following an awful error from Harry Maguire, and Sevilla doubled their advantage shortly after half-time with a looping header from defender Loic Bade.

Sevilla's win - and United's humiliation - was complete nine minutes from time when En-Nesyri again capitalised on a shocking mistake, this time from goalkeeper David de Gea, to complete the win.

Having been 2-0 up and cruising in the first leg at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag's side contrived to concede five times in the space of 90 minutes - two late own goals in Manchester and three times in Spain - to throw away their chance of European success.

    The Daily Express

The Express asks the question that most Manchester United supporters must be puzzling over this morning.

A debut season as manager for Erik ten Hag that promised so much after an early trophy now hangs in the balance following their tame exit to Sevilla in the Europa League.

They are still well-placed to make the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League, but injuries to key players has highlighted the fragility of their squad at the business end of the campaign.

Ten Hag must now pick up the pieces in time for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton, while Thursday's trip to Tottenham also looms large.

Let's have a look at the fallout from last night and what lies ahead for Manchester United in more detail.

The Mail focuses on Harry Maguire after his early mistake gifted Sevilla an eighth-minute opener and the night unravelled from there.

David de Gea does not escape though. Described as having a "shocker", the Spanish goalkeeper provided the hospital pass that led to the England centre-back's mis-control under pressure on the edge of his box. De Gea later gifted Sevilla their third goal on the night.

Also on the back page, as if to rub it in, there is a piece on a potential £2m bonus for Manchester City's players, should they win a Premier League/Champions League/FA Cup Treble.
