  1. Seagulls say goodbye to quintetpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

    Brighton v Leicester (14:30 BST)

Five Brighton players will be saying a fond farewell to the Seagulls at the final whistle of today's game against Leicester.

Captain Megan Connolly, goalkeeper Megan Walsh, Victoria Williams, Kayleigh Green and four-cap England international Danielle Carter are all leaving the club this summer.

The Seagulls - who have been through four managers in a turbulent campaign - had their WSL survival confirmed last weekend by Reading's defeat at Tottenham.

They start the day ninth - but could finish 10th if they lose to Leicester, or eighth should Brighton triumph and Tottenham fail to win at West Ham.

  2. Longhurst to bid Hammers farewellpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

West Ham v Tottenham (14:30 BST)

West Ham's match at home to Tottenham today will be midfielder Kate Longhurst's final game for the Hammers with the 34-year-old set to end her five-year stay at the club.

Longhurst, who has made 181 WSL career appearances - one shy of the league record - and played 129 games for West Ham in all competitions, will be honoured with an on-pitch presentation ahead of the game.

"I have met few players who bring as much passion, desire and tenacity as Kate both in matches and in training sessions," Hammers boss Paul Konchesky said this week.

In a nice slice of irony, the WSL's record appearance holder Kerys Harrop - the player one game in front of Longhurst - lines up against her today, turning out for visitors Spurs.

Little is on the line for either side at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, although Tottenham can leapfrog the Hammers into eighth should they win by three goals or more.

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

She's [Izzy Christiansen] been a phenomenal contributor to the women's game, on and off the pitch.

She's won everything that there is to win. Great mentality; when she first came to City she was always looking to improve, fitness scores, tactics, technical, she spent loads of time asking questions and was constantly striving for her best level.

She also scored some incredible goals including a really pivotal one in the League Cup final against Arsenal.

She'll be a big miss but she certainly has a lot to look forward to.

Man City v Everton (14:30 BST)

Just two changes for Man City from the defeat to Man Utd last week.

Khiara Keating comes in between the posts after Ellie Roebuck's red card, while Deyna Castellanos replaces Laura Coombs.

Man City XI: Keating, Morgan, Houghton, Greenwood, Ouahabi, Angeldahl, Haeegawa, Castellanos, Hemp, Kelly, Shaw.

    Subs: Casparij, Cooms, Raso, Dahou.

Meanwhile, Izzy Christiansen captains Everton against her former club in her final match before retirement.

Everton XI: Brosnan, Veje, Bjorn, Christiansen, Sorensen, Hope, Galli, Snoeijs, Stenevik, K Holmgaard.

Subs: Ramsey, Sevecke, Bennison, Maier, Clark, Wilding.

  5. Team news - Three changes for both sidespublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

Arsenal v Aston Villa (14:30 BST)

Jonas Eidevall makes three changes to the Arsenal XI that started the 2-0 defeat at Chlesea last time out.

Sabrina D'Angelo comes in for Manuela Zinsberger in goal, while Steph Catley and Jodie Taylor also start.

Kathrine Kuhl drops to the bench, Caitlin Foord is not in the squad.

Arsenal XI: D’Angelo, Wubben-Moy, Beattie, Rafaelle, Maritz, Maanum, Pelova, Catley, McCabe, Taylor, Blackstenius.

Subs: Zinsberger, Marckese, Gio, Kuhl, Goldie, Reid, Godfrey, Doe, Agyemang.

Carla Ward, who has just signed a new two-year deal as Aston Villa boss, makes three changes from the 3-3 against Liverpool last weekend.

Jordan Nobbs and Kenza Dali went off injured in that one and neither of them are involved today, Anna Patten is ineligible against her parent club.

In come Rachel Corsie, Laura Blindkilde and Remi Allen, who captains the side.

With just three players on the bench, the end of the season looks to have come at just the right time for Villa.

Aston Villa XI: Hampton, Mayling, Corsie, Turner, Pacheco, Allen, Staniforth, Blindkilde, Lehmann, Hanson, Daly.

    Subs: Leat, Boye-Hlorkah, Magill.

  6. Team news - three changes for Liverpool; one for Man Utdpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

Liverpool v Man Utd (14:30 BST)

Three changes for Liverpool from the side that drew 3-3 away to Aston Villa last Sunday.

In come keeper Rachel Laws, Ceri Holland and Netherlands forward Shanice van de Sanden.

Out go Faye Kirby, Miri Taylor and Natasha Dowie, who are all on the bench.

Liverpool XI: Laws, Hinds, Matthews, Bonner, Koivisto, Kearns, Fahey, Nagano, Holland, Stengel, Van de Sanden.

Subs: Robe, Roberts, Lundgaard, Humphrey, Daniels, Cumings, Kirby, Dowie, Taylor.

Just the one change for Manchester United as Norway midfielder Vilde Boe Risa comes in for Hayley Ladd, who is on the bench.

Lucía García's 91st-minute winner against Manchester City last weekend - which has taken the title race to the last day - is not enough to earn her a place in the starting XI.

Manchester United XI: Earps, Blundell, Turner, Le Tissier, Batlle, Zelem, Boe Risa, Galton, Toone, Parris, Russo.

Subs: Thomas, Ladd, Riviere, Naalsund, Garcia, Tounkara, Williams, Cascarino, Baggaley.

  7. Team news - West Ham unchanged, Graham starts for Spurspublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

West Ham v Tottenham (14:30 BST)

Unsurprisingly, with no notable new injury concerns, West Ham stick with the same starting XI that gave them their first win of 2023 last weekend.

That XI includes captain Dagnu Brynjarsdottir and Viviane Asseyi, who with six goals each have contributed over half of the Hammers' 21 WSL goals this season.

West Ham XI: Arnold, Shimizu, Fisk, Parker, Tysiak, Brynjarsdottir, Hayashi, Asseyi, Snerle, Denton, Thestrup.

Subs: Smith, Evans, Atkinson, Longhurst, Cooke, Cissoko, Hillyerd, Houssein, Flannery.

Tottenham make two changes from the side that won 4-1 over Reading last weekend - a result that ensured they will be in WSL in 2023-24.

In defence, Asmita Ale comes in for Kerys Harrop. The other change sees forward Kit Graham start ahead of Eveliina Summanen.

Both of the players who drop out are on the bench.

Tottenham XI: Spencer, Neville, Turner, Bartrip, Ale, Bizet, James, Spence, Ayane, Graham, England.

Subs: Korpela, Harrop, Naz, Cho, Karczewska, Petzelberger, Percival, Iwabuchi, Summanen.

  8. Team news - Rose starts for Reading, Chelsea unchangedpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

    Reading v Chelsea (14:30 BST)

BBC Sport at Select Car Leasing Stadium

Kelly Chambers makes five changes to the Reading side who lost to Tottenham last Saturday.

A huge boost is Deanne Rose's return to the starting XI for the first time since September after a serious injury.

Also coming into the side is experienced midfielder Jade Moore, who is on loan from Manchester United and will be hoping to stop Chelsea winning the title.

Amalie Eikeland, who recently made her 100th appearance, starts today and will be presented with a commemorative shirt before kick-off.

Reading XI: Moloney, Mukandi, Evans, Rose, Eikeland, Harries, Cooper, Hendrix, Moore, Mayi Kith, Vanhaevermaet.

Subs: Poulter, Wellings, Wade, Caldwell, Alexander, Perry, Primmer, Troelsgaard.

Emma Hayes has not made any changes to the Chelsea side who beat Arsenal last weekend.

It means captain Magdalena Eriksson and striker Pernille Harder start in their last appearances for the club.

Chelsea XI: Berger, Ingle, James, Reiten, Perisset, Eriksson, Mjelde, Kerr, Charles, Cuthbert, Harder.

Subs: Musovic, Carter, Leupolz, Svitkova, Fleming, Kaneryd, Buchanan, Abdullina, Cankovic.

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC Football Focus

They've got to get the three points. It's not in their hands if they get the title but what is in their hands is how they perform in this final game. They've had a brilliant season, they got to the FA Cup final for the first time - they were so close. But they've had a fantastic season. They've got Champions League football and now it's about putting on a performance for those fans who I'm sure will be here in numbers.

I think Chelsea have really established themselves in the latter part of the season. They've got so much depth in the team, world-class talent. Guro Reiten I think has been exceptional, Pernille Harder has had a great impact in the latter part of the season. After winning the FA Cup they know they are this close to winning the title and they will be up for it today.

Manchester United boss Marc Skinner feels the failures and problems of others rather than the ability and achievements of his own team has attracted more attention this week.

"People talk about injuries to other teams and this and that. Of course they happen and it's sad for those teams but we deserve a lot of credit this year," he said.

"We have broken records and are high up statistically in loads of areas performance-wise. People talk about late goals and having luck but you have to be pushing to get late goals. It's a mentality.

"I hear how other teams get a lot of credit for how they've done, but for us to break into the top three and do it the way we have done with the way we've played, this team deserves a lot of credit.

"I just feel the players have been exceptional."

    Reading v Chelsea (14:30 BST)

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC Football Daily

You would think it will be Chelsea's title.

This end of the season, Chelsea have really come into their own. They haven't performed at their best throughout the course of the season, but in the last few games they've really shown the Chelsea side we're used to seeing.

Ruthless, relentless, going about their business in a very professional manner. I don't see them, this close to lifting that trophy, letting go of that.

On paper you would definitely back Chelsea to get a result against Reading.

Media - and there are lots of them at Prenton Park - have been informed that should Manchester United win the Women's Super League title, a trophy lift will happen on the six yard line in front of their supporters at the Cow Shed end of Prenton Park around 10 minutes after the final whistle.

Harper, 7, Sarah (left), Gillian and Ivan from Urmston, Manchester, were among the early arrivals to welcome United's players off the team coach.

They believe whatever happens, it has been a successful season.

"We'll be supporting United abroad in the Champions League next season," said Ivan. "We've not given up on winning the league though. It's the last day - and anything can happen."

There's still a job to be done, of course, and while Chelsea are resounding favourites to win today, they still need to do just that to make sure of the title.

Lots of fans were already gathered outside the stadium, soaking in the sunshine, a good three hours before kick-off.

Some were planning low-key celebrations for afterwards, while others are "seeing what happens" and trying not to tempt fate.

I met young Erin, who is hoping to see Chelsea lift the trophy for the first time in person alongside friends and family.

She went for a cagey 2-1 and unsurprisingly said Erin Cuthbert was her favourite player.

Whatever happens this weekend, United have enjoyed their best-ever campaign in women's football after only being formed in their current guise in 2018 as a second-tier club.

They will finish in the WSL top three - and qualify for the Women's Champions League - for the first time.

But Skinner wants his team to aim for their biggest prize.

He admitted this week United need an unlikely set of circumstances to win the title, but they must look to score early and push hard to maintain their end of the bargain.

"The reality is we know if Chelsea draw we need a massive goal swing," he said. "We will try of course.

"To think and believe you deserve that is the wrong mentality. Liverpool are wonderful at counter-attacking. We have to build success because they won't give us anything.

"All we can try to do is to win the game. If there's different connotations we need to try to react to that."

Emma Hayes says Chelsea are "exactly where we want to be" before the WSL finale.

Victory over Reading will seal a fourth straight title for the Blues and Hayes said her team are well prepared for these big moments and will cope with any final-day pressure.

"We have worked hard to get ourselves to this point, to be in a position to perform tomorrow," the Chelsea boss said.

"I'm looking forward to the game and to playing in front of a strong Chelsea fanbase, we need it.

"I think back to every campaign, we've only won the league by a couple of points at best, maybe with a game to spare somewhere along the line, so this is just business as usual for us."

Former England international Fern Whelan believes that Chelsea have shown their title race experience to put themselves in pole position going into the final day.

Win today and it would be six WSL titles - plus the Spring Series - in nine years for Emma Hayes' team.

"They're just continuously winning," Whelan told BBC Football Daily. "They're showing they know how to do it and they've done it before.

"What's giving them that edge over teams at the moment is they've done it before and they've got the players and the pedigree and the coaching staff just to be able to pull it through right at the last minute."

A little detour on my way to Prenton Park to see Missy Bo Kearns' impressive mural a stone's throw from Anfield. The sun was shining down on the artwork for the Liverpool-born midfielder who is the first Liverpool Women's player to have a mural in her honour.

The work of artist Paul Curtis, it depicts Kearns kissing the Women's Championship trophy as a young fan watches on.

Kearns, who has been on Liverpool's books since the age of eight, is in fine company when it comes to artwork around Anfield celebrating past and present players.

Men's first team players Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino and manager Jurgen Klopp all have murals along with famous players from the past including Ian Rush and John Barnes.
