The only good news as far as Everton are concerned from that first half is that they go into half time only a goal down.

Calvert-Lewin was obviously a risk today, we weren't privy to the information as to how serious his knock last week was. But now this does not look good for Everton for the last game of the season.

As soon as Calvert-Lewin went down he knew, he was sat there with his head in his hands. He looked distraught.

That is a huge blow for Everton at this stage of the game.

The hosts have a penalty! Harry Wilson looks to cut inside and ends up on the deck along with Tyrick Mitchell. Referee Joshua Smith says that's a spot kick.

Cody Gakpo took his shirt off to show the referee the marks on his body from Tyrone Mings' challenge, but he accepts an apologetic hand from the Villa defender as the VAR verdict is announced to boos at Anfield.

Yep, Dominic Calvert-Lewin cannot continue and so he is replaced by Demarai Gray.

Two injury substitutions and a goal down. Everton are going to have to dig really deep to recover from this.

The video assistant referee is taking a look at that Tyrone Mings challenge.

It's not great at all from Mings, his foot is really high.

But VAR says the yellow will suffice.

Dominic Solanke's link-up play has been very nice so far but he's been too far away from goal to be much of a threat. Here he is though with a looping header from the edge of the area which lands on the roof of the net.

Tyrone Mings goes into the referees' book for a very high boot on Cody Gakpo.

He does make contact with the ball but then ends up planting his foot into Gakpo's midriff.

This half could be about to get worse for Everton here because Dominic Calvert-Lewin is down and needing treatment.

Fulham are still yet to muster a shot on target. It's another excellent away day showing so far from Palace under Roy Hodgson, who may just have mastered this Premier League lark at the age of 75.

Alisson is a joy to watch as a goalkeeper, the Brazilian is so good off his line, mopping everything up that comes over the top.

It relieves the pressure on the defence and sets the team off to attack.

Just a couple of minutes to go until half-time and Liverpool have yet to land a shot on target. Mo Salah has barely been involved and Villa look well organised throughout the team.

It's going to be a tough task for the hosts to turn this around and keep their Champions League hopes alive.
