Chants of 'Si Senor' echo around Anfield once more.

What a goodbye it would be if Roberto Firmino could come off the bench and save Liverpool this afternoon.

Villa are standing off and letting Liverpool have the ball at the start of the second half.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man Utd

A standing ovation as David Brooks comes off. A huge step on his road to recovery. On comes massive Kieffer Moore.

  3. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man Utd

Bournemouth have had their moments and there is another one. Manchester United are sloppy on the ball and it's turned over, Dom Solanke gets space inside the area, his angle is horrid and he pulls a shot right across goal. He needed a clone in the middle.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Wolves 1-0 Everton

Nélson Semedo is booked after catching Idrissa Gueye, although Wolves fans don't think it should have been a foul in the first place.

It's going to be a difficult second half for Everton with them having lost Calvert-Lewin and Patterson to injury in the first half.

You've got to look at Lopetegui's in game management, which has been excellent. He has caused Everton all sorts of problems by shifting Podence and Traore around the front line.

The rotation of personnel within the Wolves system has been excellent and has made all the difference.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Liverpool 0-1 Aston Villa

We're back under way at Anfield now too, where we had nine minutes of first-half stoppage time.

The departing Roberto Firmino and James Milner were out warming up during the interval. Can they play a role as the Reds attempt to turn this around?

  7. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Wolves 1-0 Everton

Uh oh. Another Everton player is down injured, Amadou Onana this time.

After a couple of minutes he is back up on his feet again, to Everton fans' relief.

  8. CLOSE!published at 16:08 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Fulham 1-1 Crystal Palace

A huge chance for Fulham seconds into the second half! Aleksandar Mitrovic starts the move and gets to the back stick to meet Harry Wilson's pull back, but for once the big striker fluffs his connection and scuffs it wide of the near post. The goal was gaping there.

  9. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man Utd

Lovely dragback from Antony out on the Manchester United right and he wins a free-kick from Lloyd Kelly. There's plenty of chat about that decision among the ranks. The ball in is a good one but Bournemouth hook it out.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man Utd

Bournemouth come out flying and David Brooks has David de Gea at full stretch with a rasping shot from about 15 yards out. It was central but had plenty of go behind it and the Spaniard tips it over.

  11. Eventful at Anfieldpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    HT: Liverpool 0-1 Aston Villa

It was quite an eventful first half at Anfield...

22 mins - Ollie Watkins misses penalty

27 mins - Jacob Ramsey scores for Villa

46 mins - VAR check for Tyrone Mings red card

50 mins - VAR check for possible Liverpool penalty

So far, so good for Aston Villa. Liverpool need a huge second half, with a top-four place slipping away.

Paterson on. Everton doing well. Paterson comes off. Keane on. Everton concede immediately. There's a link there.

    Ste, Merseyside

That Everton have no fit left backs, no fit cover for Patterson, no centre backs with pace, no creative attacking midfielders and no cover for DCL is just further proof how badly the club has been run in recent years. Whether we are relegated or not, massive structural change is needed.

United are fortunate that Villa are the side playing like they're fighting for Champions League football. It's been quite a strain watching them since the EFL Cup victory, it has to be said. Nothing but half-chances at the moment against a side with the second poorest goal difference in the top flight. A more focused second half effort PLEASE!

Not great for Everton. Not great at all.

Everton are not only behind but have lost two players to injury, most crucially Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He had been a threat in that opening 45 minutes but his body has let him down again.

Sean Dyche's side just started to look a little dispirited towards the end of that half.

    HT: Wolves 1-0 Everton

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everton are looking around for some direction. Shoulders have started to drop.

The conversation between Pickford and his defenders has been constant throughout the first half, but you could see the shouting and blame culture coming in after the goal.

They need togetherness, they need cameraderie not criticism.

From starting the game so well to almost begging for the half time whistle, Sean Dyche needs to get Everton re-organised and re-focussed.

  17. 'Proper penalty from Mitrovic'published at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

That's a proper penalty from Aleksandar Mitrovic, it's a really good penalty. I think Harry Wilson does well to win the penalty in the first place, there's no doubt about that.

Wilson has just come inside Tyrick Mitchell and it's unfortunate for the defender.

Mitrovic has taken that penalty like he has never been away.

What exactly does Sancho offer? Does nothing going forward and even less defensively - waste of space and £72m!

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man Utd

It's fairly remarkable, given their rather drought-like form in the last decade, that Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 134 Premier League matches when leading at half-time (W115, D19) dating back to 21st September 2014 against Leicester City.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Liverpool 0-1 Aston Villa

After nine minutes of stoppage time, the whistle finally goes for half-time at Anfield and Aston Villa do go in ahead after a fine first-half showing.

Liverpool's Champions League hopes hang by a thread.
