Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think first half we played very well. The game plan was what we wanted and defended very good, closing spaces and keeping them away from the goal. There was one big save from Andre but we had opportunities from two or three big breaks. we need to take benefit from it. We have to take more.

"The penalty changes the game. I don't have a comment on it."

On sending on Mason Mount at half time: "To go more offensive. We are losing the game. Straight on after half time you have to be more offensive. We did it by getting Eriksen off the left side to go quicker up to Alvarez pushing and Mount for more offensive power to change the game."

Did it make midfield less stable? "Absolutely. Our game plan, we were very disciplined in the first half. In the second half we make a mistake by going to the keeper in the wrong moment and not recovering quickly. They get into the game, get power in midfield, switch the play and make the goal. But it started with our mistake. We had to create because we are losing. You cannot wait. When you have Mount on the bench you can expect creativity."

On taking off Rasmus Hojlund: "Rasmus is playing every game and he is not used to it. We had to work very hard to get the press on. You have to protect the players and get new energy on the pitch."

"The game plan was good. It is changing the game. You are losing and you have to act as a manager, especially when you have a bench. You have to use it to get more offensive power on the pitch."

On the run of results: "Last year we were in the same situation, also after the game with City. We have to forget this game and recover for the next.

"We played three times this year against City and in all those games played very good. First half today was good. We made it difficult for them and chances were similar. They got the first goal. Second half is not how we need to act, I accept that. But in all three games we played very well against them."

  3. 'Rashford is playing without confidence'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was 30 goals last season and has only got one this season. He is playing without confidence.

He is a player without confidence so how has he gone from 30 goals to a player seemingly playing without confidence? How has that happened in such a short space of time?

  4. 'I want someone else to win the Premier League'published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live's 606 phone in

I think this season for Liverpool is about Virgil Van Dijk. I think defensively they still have issues.

I want somebody else to win the Premier League other than Man City. I am bored with it.

  5. 'We let ourselves down with the goals'published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, talking to Match of the Day, says: "It's frustrating. The idea was to keep the pitch as small as you can. When you open up the pitch that's when Liverpool are at their most dangerous.

"The first goal was from a turnover when we got bodies up the field, the second was on the counter-attack and the third spoke for itself.

"When you open the field they're as good as anyone in the world. We look at the goals and think 'we should've done better'.

"I had no fit striker to start. It's a really tough place to come, especially when you don't have a striker.

"At 2-0 down at half-time, I've seen teams not give the effort we did in the second half and go under and I don't think we did that - we just let ourselves down a bit with the goals."

  6. 'There was only one team on the pitch'published at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Fulham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi to BBC Match of the Day: "We dominated the first half and the second half as well. We lost two points for our five minutes in the second half. Before we conceded the goal we were suffering too much. We lost two points. We are disappointed and frustrated by the result.

"For the performance, there was only one team on the pitch and this team was Brighton. we deserved to win. In the first half we played very well. After the goal we conceded we played very well again and very good football.

"We could have created more chances to score, but we shoot 21 times on goal. We can play better in the last 20 metres. We can be better on the last pass and shot. Anyway, we deserved to win for sure."

On whether Fulham's Joao Palhinha should have been sent off: "It's not my job. I prefer speaking about football."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Match of the Day about striker Luis Diaz, who missed the game following reports his parents had been kidnapped in Colombia.

Klopp said: "We got the news last night and it's the most difficult I've ever had. When you're that long in the business, you think you have experienced everything but it's not about us.

"It's all about Lucho and his family. We all hope and pray everything will be fine. It was a shock to the system. I didn't know what to talk about in the team meeting. The boys found a way to put in a performance on the pitch."

More from Jurgen Klopp on striker Luis Diaz, who missed the game following reports his parents had been kidnapped in Colombia.

Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "We played the game in the most difficult circumstances I've ever had. A really difficult day so far.

"The best thing we could do for our brother is win the game. After more than 1,000 games [as a manager] you would think you've experienced everything. But it's not about us, it's about Lucho and his family.

"We all pray that everything will be fine. The only thing we could do is fight for their brother and that's what they did. The day started in the worst possible way. The boys fought for their brother."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: "It was a good game and that's what you need against an opponent that's ready to make your lives very difficult.

"I'm pretty sure Steve [Cooper] when he found out [Chris] Wood couldn't play I'm sure that was not a good moment.

"With a proper striker and two quick wingers that would've caused us problems."

On midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, Klopp added: "The boy is a joy to watch with how much he loves to play and how mature he is on the pitch with two assists.

"You need players that understand the game and he definitely does."

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

Jim Ratcliffe could improve the mood and stability in the boardroom. The fans have to hear from one of the owners quickly.

I think he believes he can come in and sort this ship out. He's going to have to set the Glazers aside and get everyone in the club feeling better.

Staying the same is not what any Manchester United fan wants. Jim Ratcliffe is incredibly successful.

You have to say it's worth giving it a go, but I have my doubts it'll fix it.

Make the changes to the footballing department that he thinks need changing.

  14. 'Show that courage'published at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Roy Keane
Former Manchester United midfielder on Sky Sports

You expect more from Manchester United. Man City are a level up, but you have to stick your chest out. Physically, United looked awful. Show that courage when you're in possession.

  15. 'It's a graveyard for them'published at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

Imagine you're in a business and a football club, the news is that the guy is going to wipe out the whole footballing department. Just imagine what it's like. Jim Ratcliffe's going to come in and sweep it all away.

In and around Erik ten Hag it is toxic and embedded with negativity. They all think they are going to lose their jobs and can you imagine what's happening.

I honestly believe the toxicity that exists at the club eats away at every manager and payer that comes to the club. Harry Maguire was going to go to Manchester City. Mason Mount was going to go to Liverpool. They come here and it is graveyard for them. Are we going to keep blaming the kids in the class or are we going to blame the headteacher?

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Roy Keane
Former Manchester United midfielder on Sky Sports

We used to get stick and we were winning stuff. I don't think this is a bad group of players. You want to see a few senior players pulling people back in. Maguire and Evans, they've played hundreds of games, they need to get them to sit in.

Where is that experience from these so-called characters?

  17. 'The performances have been poor'published at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

The last few weeks, the performances have been so poor. At this moment in time, I can't quite see a moment where they get out of it. Changing the manager? Absolutely no chance, that's not the right thing.

Each manager has reached a level and then it drops. It's happening to Erik ten Hag before our eyes.

  18. 'I would take the captaincy off Fernandes'published at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Roy Keane
Former Manchester United midfielder on Sky Sports

What I saw today, I would take the captaincy off Fernandes. He is not captain material. He's whinging, he's moaning. I would start with that because the manager can control that. He is the opposite to what I would want as a captain.

  19. 'They're playing underdog football'published at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-3 Man City

    Jamie Carragher
Former Liverpool defender on Sky Sports

What Ten Hag's doing on the training pitch has nothing to do with Jim Ratcliffe coming in. They're playing underdog football. No other top team plays like that. What do they do on the football pitch?

  20. Ten Hag silent on penalty incidentpublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

    Simon Stone

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been asked about the Manchester City penalty.

"No comment," he said. "Nothing at all. Make your point of view."

Ten Hag said United went 'toe to toe' with City until the spot-kick.
