I have got to say, the difference between the two teams is unbelievable.

I have been looking and thinking who would I take out of the Man United side here and put in the City team and I can't find one.

Andre Onana into the action again.

This time he has to dive to his left to push away an angled Jack Grealish shot. It just opened up for him.

    United look shellshocked.

They give the ball away in their own half to invite Julian Alvarez to charge forward. His effort is blocked by Victor Lindelof.

The goal has come directly from the area where they were trying to stop at half-time. That substitution has not worked out at all for Erik ten Hag or Manchester United.

United fans will fear this could get messy as their side try to pursue the game.

City would love nothing more than notching up a rugby score here.

I mentioned earlier that unless Manchester United kept their defensive shape - which starts at the front - they would pay the price.

Too often, they have allowed Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish to manipulate themselves into a two v one overload on the United right.

It ends up being a massive scramble to fill the space - and Erling Haaland arrives at the back post unmarked.

In theory, that goal was easy to stop. But United simply do not have the personnel to keep that shape.

It's so similar to the chance he had at the end of the first half, but the result is different. He guides it into the far corner.

Great play by City again. They move the ball ever so well.

Dalot had gone on an overlap and couldn't get back and Fernandes has to cover in. Lindelof tucks too close in and Haaland just stays at the back post.

Of all the players you pick up for Man City, he's the one you pick up.

He's not going to be denied again!

City sweep forward, cutting through United. Bernardo Silva makes a superb run to overlap on the right before dinking a cross to the back post for the rising Erling Haaland to head home.

No heroics from Andre Onana this time.

City have a cast-iron grip on the derby.

It's a good game for Mason Mount to set the standards that people expect of him. Get a goal or an assist and turn the game for them.

My unbiased opinion is that Rodri has conned the referee and Michael Oliver. There was pulling and shoving going on within that box and Rodri wouldn’t have connected with that ball had he been unmarked.

  19. 'I always want to us to be at a high level'published at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Luton

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, speaking to Sky Sports: "Very satisfied. These three points are very important for us. Only I can be not very happy with the goal we conceded because it was a strange mistake.

"The idea was to control the game, to keep ball possession and to try and avoid their transition, their moment with the ball and don't concede a lot of corners and we did.

"Overall I think we deserved to win.

"It is a challenge, to always try to be consistent and get a high level and not play under this level. It is a process, we are building a team.

"For me it is still a long process here and I will want to work to improve as always.

"Of course I am happy but still being serious, serious in the way I want to build here and improve more."

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Fulham

    Fulham

    Marco SilvaImage source, Getty Images

Fulham manager Marco Silva to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a completely different two halves, I know that is a cliché sometimes in football. But it was completely two different halves.

"I think we had too much respect for them in the first half, we did not decide well when to press, it was not a collective pressure. A lot of the time we arrived late. We started to have too many doubts with the moments to press. And of course we were playing a side who connect really well from the first phase to the second. It was more difficult for us.

"They were much stronger, they won all the duels and the percentage of ball that they won was for sure really big. And when we were on the ball we made too many errors. The goal is a good example. We are not taking the right decisions.

"Second half was completely different. We were much more on the front foot. We pressed them higher and our reaction was really good. We have to give credit to the players. The reaction, the way we equalised, the big chance we had after we equalised.

"We showed good organisation to keep the result. At the end I think it was a fair result after our reaction in the second half."

On Joao Palhinha's potential sending off: "I haven't seen yet. With so many challenges and duals. I saw elbows in the face of Joao as well with blood and nobody asks me about this. I want to see it from both sides but also I do not want to go in this direction.

"It was a really challenging game and both teams were really aggressive. I can tell you Joao is a really honest player. He is a good player because he is aggressive in a good way. But he is a really honest player. He's not this type of player at all. When you have the referee, linesmen and VAR not saying anything, then it is probably was not the case to say."
