  1. 'A walk in the park for England'published at 20:37 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    HT: Scotland 0-2 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England have been outstanding. In the final third that's what we want to see, creating chances and putting them away.

From kick-off there were no nerves, they relished the game, even though people criticised them against Ukraine.

I thought it would be a lot harder, Scotland haven't turned up yet. The first half has been a walk in the park for England.

  2. HALF-TIME Scotland 0-2 Englandpublished at 45+2 mins

    England are cruising at Hampden.

The crowd did their part with the big build up, but Scotland have been a distant second best.

    Scotland 0-2 England

    Alex Howell
    Football reporter at Hampen Park

England turned on the quality for those two goals. Bellingham with a clever pass to start the move for the first and then scoring himself for the second. He's been on the end of a lot of challenges but Scotland aren't able to stop him having a big impact on this game.

  6. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 41 mins

    Scotland 0-2 England

The first booking of the evening goes to Kalvin Phillips for an ugly scissor tackle from behind.

There are some afters, with lots of pushing and shoving. Jack Hendry and Jude Bellingham join Phillips in the ref's notepad.

  7. 'England shredding naive Scotland'published at 20:28 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-2 England

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Scotland look naive and England are shredding Scotland at the moment.

They want to go for it and give the fans something to enjoy, but there is realism needed.

Scotland are giving away far too many chances, it is two and it could've been more.

  8. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Scotland 0-2 England

We had a brief check for a possible handball from Marc Guehi under pressure from Scotland's lone striker Che Adams. Nothing doing...

  9. 'What a ball in from Foden'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-2 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The last 10 minutes, the confidence is just coming out from England. What a finish from Bellingham, England have been absolutely outstanding, composure, skill, technique what a ball across.

It was bad defending, but what a ball in from Foden. I don't know how Scotland will get themselves back into this game.

  10. Norway double their leadpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-2 England

Martin Odegaard has doubled Norway's lead with a low drive from the edge of the area.

We can forget about Scotland qualifying for Euro 2024 this evening.

  11. 'Bellingham not missing from there'published at 20:24 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-2 England

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker & manager on Channel 4

You cannot turn and play into danger.

The least you do is clear it out wide. Bellingham isn't missing from there.

  12. Robertson 'froze'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-2 England

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Robertson knows he's made an error.

He's got the ball under control. I don't know what's going through his mind as he passes it to Bellingham.

He's just froze and set it up so easily.

    Jude Bellingham

A horror moment for Andy Robertson... Scotland are in a muddle in their own penalty box but the skipper has ample time to clear. Instead, he duffs the ball straight to Jude Bellingham, who gleefully slams it home.

  14. 'England have been the better side'published at 20:22 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been coming, let's be honest England have been the better side and dominated the first half. Phil Foden didn't know a lot about it, it is fizzed across, he is jumping, it has hit his right foot deflected in and gone in.

Foden stuck his leg out and it hit him.

Now we will see if Scotland can press higher and up the tempo.

  15. 'Magic stuff from Foden'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-1 England

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker & manager on Channel 4

He knows exactly what he's doing there, Phil Foden.

Magic stuff to sort his feet out - he knows he just needs to get something on it.

    Phil Foden

Marcus Rashford steals in behind the Scotland defence and lays it off for Kyle Walker to have another lash. The shot is wayward but Phil Foden is in the right place to steer it home from six yards.

    Scotland 0-0 England

A rare Scotland attack - and there are plenty of blue shirts streaming into the box only for Kieran Tierney to overhit the cross from the left.

  18. 'Home noise dims as quality shows'published at 20:17 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-0 England

    Martin Dowden
BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden Park

England have, to a degree, quelled the Hampden Roar with a calmness in possession and a threat that suggests they can do damage in the final third if they find the right pass.

Scotland aren't being overawed by any means but urgently need more of the ball.

  19. Scotland on the back footpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-0 England

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

We're having to defend, and this is what Steve Clarke will be looking for, how we can compete against the quality that England have.

  20. 'England lacking that bit of magic'published at 20:15 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Scotland 0-0 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Harry Kane is not the quickest, but Marcus Rashford is rapid and Phil Foden is very quick too so I don't know why they are going so early?

They have been in five or six times now.

The Scotland pressing is not really pressing, there's no intent and the next man is five yards off. England have played great stuff out from the back but it is just in the final third they are lacking that bit of magic.

England are so confident in possession, it's just that bit of quality needed from Rashford, Foden, Kane to put the ball in the net.
