My ears are absolutely ringing after those anthems!
What an utterly incredible noise around Hampden.
Lets hope this lives up to it.

A moment of silence in the memory of former Scotland boss Craig Brown and away we go.
Okay, it's just a friendly but I can think of worse things to do on a Tuesday night.

This place is about to erupt.
All the feelings, emotions and pride from Friday night and the campaign so far is going to come out.

Hostile atmosphere is right... You can barely hear God Save the King over the boos.
Flower of Scotland is then given laldy...

England manager Gareth Southgate on Channel 4: "There's obviously so much history to the game. It's a great test for us.
"It's going to be a really hostile environment, Scotland are playing well, so it's going to be a good challenge. We want to find out about a few people; we have to do that over the next few months.
"[Kalvin Phillips] needs to play. He's a very important player for us. We have faith in him.
"At times we didn't risk the ball enough, were a bit slow moving the ball [against Ukraine]. We've got fresh players, good threat on the counter with Marcus' pace and Jude's running power."

Scotland manager Steve Clarke on Channel 4: "Full house at Hampden. A game against the Auld Enemy, it's always going to be a good occasion.
"It's always a good time to play against England. It's a historic game, and that's why we're here - 150 years. They're always in later stages of major finals, that's where we're aspiring to be.
"Very easy [to keep the players focused]. They're a really switched on group. There's nothing we can do about what's happening in Oslo."

With 16 of the Scottish squad playing for English clubs, there is sure to be plenty of banter flying back and forth.
Pity any English players in the Watford dressing room if wind-up merchant Ryan Porteous is on the winning side.

With every tick of the clock towards kick-off, the terms 'friendly' and 'heritage match' are drifting somewhere over the Hampden stands.
Inside the stadium, it's as far from a feeling of a nothing game as is imaginable. The atmosphere is cranking up, the sense of anticipation is tangible.
Scotland are unchanged and absolutely flying. Some England players have a point to prove.
Both countries would absolutely love to win this.
What a night we have in store.

Anyone out there remember the 100th anniversary match?
It was a Valentine's Day massacre at Hampden, with England winning 5-0 on 14 February 1973.
Allan Clarke got two of the goals that night and captain Bobby Moore celebrated a century of England appearances.

Hampden is still filling up, but in a busy away end the England support are making a fair noise. St George's flags from Coventry, Norwich, Rotherham, Milton Keynes and Stoke are draped around the visitors' section away to our left while a touch of "friendly banter" is currently being exchanged over the barrier.
In response, the DJ at Hampden has just stuck on the Proclaimers. I'm assuming the travelling fans won't be joining in...

Gareth Southgate played twice against Scotland, on the winning side in the Gazza game at Euro 96, and in a 1-0 defeat at Wembley in 1999 that allowed England to squeeze into Euro 2000 with a 2-1 aggregate success in the play-off.
As manager, he is unbeaten with one win from three - a 3-0 home World Cup qualifier victory in November 2016.
Steve Clarke never got to face the Auld Enemy in his six-cap international career and this will be his second experience as the boss after the Wembley draw at Euro 2020.
Scotland v England (19:45)
Gareth Southgate has taken England to a Euros final and the last four and last eight at back-to-back World Cups.
The team are well placed to reach Euro 2024 after four wins and a draw in qualifying.
He has a win rate of over 60%, with a side ranked fourth in the world.
And yet there are a few grumbles...
Of the scrutiny that comes with the territory, he said: "We kind of know the cycle, frankly, with England. I’ve been in the job long enough now.
"It’s constant, it’s never-ending, but we have to really focus internally on what’s important for us.
"Review our own standards and make sure that we know what we’re working towards and what we’re comparing ourselves against, really."

Steve Clarke is approaching deity status in Scotland, given the national team's remarkable turnaround.
There was the disappointment of missing out in the World Cup play-offs, but Scotland have won 11 qualifiers on the bounce since defeat in Copenhagen in September 2021 - and they topped their Nations League group in between.
Clarke has so much credit in the bank and yet 'Steve Clarke smile' doesn't turn up much in your search engine of choice. His Ayrshire grumpiness is all part of the package...

Here's another snap from Harry Kane and Andy Robertson's day out in Partick to visit the site of the 1872 meeting.
Were were told the teams would warm up in these kits with the original crests. England are but Scotland are in their pink training tops.
I don't think Andy will be playing in those boots and Harry probably wouldn't fancy heading that old leather ball.

England boss Gareth Southgate was eight during the 1978 World Cup and claims to have been cheering on Scotland...
"I was supporting Scotland because obviously we hadn't qualified," he revealed yesterday.
"I kind of followed that through the trauma of Peru and the Netherlands.
"Then we were back in '82 and all of a sudden, you know, for me then onwards it was all about England.
"But, yes, great fixtures. I’ve met so many of the former players over the years - worked with some of them, played with some of them.
"It’s a fabulous game. I know there's a rivalry and I know people will be wary of it crossing a boundary, but it’s a brilliant sporting rivalry and it's a great game to be involved in."

"In my lifetime, England have moved a bit in front," said Scotland head coach Steve Clarke on Monday.
"We are trying to close the gap on them and we'll find out how much we've closed that gap.
"The more you play against the top sides, the better you become.
"This is the evolution of a group of young men who've grown up together and we've kept them together. We've got better and better.
"I've got some things I want to see on the pitch against England, testing ourselves against top opposition, which we are going to come across more often in the next 12-18 months."

The short time he's been at Real Madrid, they love him already.
He's a brilliant footballer who oozes class. He has everything.
I'm really looking forward to seeing him for the first time in the flesh.
