  2. McInnes 'sorry' after 'bizarre' red cardpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Dundee 2-2 Kilmarnock

Of his won red card,Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "It's mad! I've been sent off before, but that was bizarre. I went and apologised to the referee there.

"I was convinced the ball was out! The ball boy's went missing second-half. I told the referee, I'm wrong, he has to send me off and I apologise. I'm hoping Sportscene can help me out there."

  3. 'Story of our season so far'published at 18:10 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Steven MacLean tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we were good in the first half then we lose a poor goal, second phase from a set play.

"The reaction was good and, at the start of second half, we were the team on top. Again, we lose a poor second goal.

"It's been the story of the season so far. We need to get better at taking our chances when we are on top. We need to do more to get on the end of crosses because we had a lot of final-third entries.

"There are a lot of things right, but there are things we need to do better. There's only one way that gets solved and that's working hard on the training pitch."

  4. 'To play in this team you need to work very hard'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

Hibs head coach Nick Montgomery tells BBC Scotland "I really enjoyed" his home debut "although we made it hard for ourselves in the second half with the amount of chances we had".

"The game could have been out of sight," he says. "The boys stuck to the game plan. Fans want the ball forward all the time, but that can't always be the case.

"I was pleased with the composure we showed in the build up. St Johnstone were quite aggressive, pressing high.

"To play in this team, you need to work very hard and I think you saw a real team performance.

"I think David Marshall had two saves and one of them was a big save."

  5. Docherty content to 'gain point'published at 18:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Dundee 2-2 Kilmarnock

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "I was disappointed at the red card. We were controlling the game, in the ascendancy, scored a good goal and played well. For me, it's a yellow. Derek [McInnes] agreed.

"I spoke to the referee at half-time. Normally, they reverse the decision when they go to the screen. He said the challenge was reckless. I thought there were other challenges in the game that were worse.

"Look, it happened. I'm happy with my team's resilience. They showed that in abundance. It speaks volumes of the group. I'd rather talk about that.

"The players have absolute belief in each other and we'll go until the final kick. We've gained a point today."

  6. McInnes bemoans late lapsepublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Dundee 2-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes is "not convinced" that Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan deserved to be sent off despite what he thought was a poor challenge.

"When they go down to 10 men, we are in charge of the game, but at 2-1 you are never there," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Really disappointed to lose a goal from a set play. They have a fair size about them and we knew we'd have to stand up to them - that's British football.

"I thought we were really good in the game, first half. We arrived time and again in their box and we're a bit guilty of not putting the ball away. I thought my front two and two wide players were a handful.

"It's mad! I've been sent off before, but that was bizarre. I went and apologised to the referee there. I was convinced the ball was out! The ball boy's went missing second-half. I told the referee, I'm wrong, he has to send me off and I apologise. I'm hoping Sportscene can help me out there."

  7. Taking chances the difference - Naismithpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

FT: St Mirren 1-0 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith says the difference between the sides in Paisley was "small margins".

"The timing of the goal is meaningless," he tells BBC Scotland. "It is the nature of it that is damaging.

"It is really poor goal to lose. It is just mix-up and it's a couple of times this season it's happened.

"In the other box, we have two or three chances we don't take and that's been the difference in the game. I don't think the quality of the game is anything special."

  8. It should have been more - Robinsonpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

FT: St Mirren 1-0 Heart of Midlothian

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson is "not getting carried away" by his side's second-top position.

"It's been a good start," he tells Sportsound. "That's all it is.

"Terrific performance today. It probably should have been more against a very good Hearts side. We missed chances and had three goals disallowed.

"We're creating chances, we're playing some very good stuff and when we needed to defend we showed great character and resilience.

"I still think there's improvement, it's still a work in progress. Last season, we were very functional - we played a lot of straight line football, which I don't like. We've got the right balance now.

"We know what we are. It's my job to keep the realism, and keep everyone's feet on the ground. Without the hard work and discipline, you go nowhere."

  9. Stenny win top-of-table battlepublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Scottish League 2

Four teams started the day level on points at the top of the fourth tier, but it is Stenhousemuir who now have a one-point lead after a 1-0 win away to Bonnyrigg in the game of the day.

The other two sides who started the day level both lost - with Peterhead's win lifting them above hosts Dumbarton into second.

Meanwhile, Stranraer slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Forfar. The victors move up from second bottom to seventh.

Clyde stay bottom despite their first win of the season, staying behind visitors Elgin on goal difference despite a 2-1 victory and East Fife, who scored a late equaliser away to The Spartans.

  10. Watch - Falkirk look to keep up with Acciespublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Scottish League 1

Another late winner, this time away to Queen of the South, means Hamilton are three points clear at the top of the third tier.

That might only be for a few hours, with Falkirk's match away to Kelty Hearts just starting - and you can watch that on this website and on BBC Alba. Indeed, the Bairns are already 1-0 ahead.

At the bottom, Edinburgh have their first point of the season - with a 90th-minute own goal denying them a win at home to second-bottom Cove.

  11. Late goal moves United to toppublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Scottish Championship

That late goal in Inverness and Raith Rovers' defeat in Airdrie means Dundee United move top of the second tier by a point.

Arbroath's impressive 3-0 win at Firhill takes Dick Campbell's part-timers up to third above host Partick Thistle, who also fall behind Dunfermline after the Pars' 3-1 win over Morton.

A home defeat, albeit against the pre-season favourites, in his first game as caretaker might not do much for John Robertson should he have ambitions to take the Caley Thistle head coach role permanently.

  12. A Celtic cruisepublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-3 Celtic

BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni

The biggest compliment you could pay the Celtic players is that you would have had no idea that they played with 10 men for more than an hour.

They worked hard, played well and clinically converted chances. Much for manager Brendan Rodgers to be happy about.

Quite the contrary for home boss David Martindale, although his season won't be defined my matches against the defending champions.

  13. My expectations are greater than that - Martindalepublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-3 Celtic

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni

Livingston manager David Martindale accepts that his side should have done far far better against Celtic's 10 men.

"I'm not having that when you're playing against 10 men," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Now, if we'd ended that game 1-0, well we could have taken it on the chin, but ultimately we lost the rest of that game 2-0 against 10 men.

"And do you know what? My expectations, and the staff's expectations, are greater than that. Against 10 men for 60 minutes, I think we've got to do better."

  14. Its a monumental effort - Rodgerspublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-3 Celtic

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers described it as "an outstanding win for us" away to Livingston in today's early kick-off.

"Huge credit to the players," he tells BBC Scotland. "It's a monumental effort on the back end of a Champions League week."

On goalkeeper Joe Hart's sending off, Rodgers says: "It's the first time he's been sent off in his career. It gave us a chance to show our mentality and personality and we definitely showed that.

"I think we're getting better. I'm just so happy for the players and the supporters."

Rodgers was particularly pleased to see Daizen Maeda on the scoresheet.

"It's not like playing with 10 men when you have him in the team because he covers so much ground," he adds.

  15. Celtic remain top of pilepublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-3 Celtic

Before St Mirren's win over Hearts, Celtic had edged into a five-point lead at the top of the Premiership with a convincing win over Livingston despite having goalkeeper Joe Hart being sent over in the first half.

We've got reaction from both managers...

  19. FULL-TIME St Mirren 1-0 Heart of Midlothianpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

A dramatic finish, but it's St Mirren who secure the win that means they are back to only two points behind Celtic at the top of the Premiership.

Ryan Strain's first-half goal is enough for the hosts, but they had the ball in net three other times only to have the goals ruled out.

  20. CLOSE!published at 17:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

St Mirren 1-0 Heart of Midlothian

Lawrence Shankland is absolutely raging with himself.

An Alex Gogic slip allows the Hearts captain to go clean through on goal, but he scuffs his finish and goalkeeper Zach Hemming makes the save.

The loose ball is booted behind and that must surely be victory for St Mirren.
