Spurs have a good record here obviously, they've had some good results against City so mentally they should be alright.

The problem is the injuries they've got and we certainly know they won't be parking the bus today so it sets up for, hopefully a pretty decent game.

As an Arsenal fan I want Spurs to both win and lose, obviously.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery: "We wanted to win but at the end the point is good for us. We started by making a mistake but we reacted well and had a goal disallowed by VAR.

"We reacted again to going behind and this is not an easy point to get, it was a very tough match and we can feel that this point is a positive.

"We struggled in moments and we were resilient. We tried to get on the ball and score and we did that. This point is not the best but it is not the worst.

"It is always difficult to play Manchester City [on Wednesday], they are the best team with the best coach. There is not one coach like Pep Guardiola."

There needs to be a bit more realism surrounding Spurs. Any team that loses 12 players, including the majority of their 1st team, would struggle. Let's not forget that many pundits predicted Spurs would face a relation battle this season BEFORE all the injuries and suspensions.

Peter: Love what Ange has done with Spurs so far but there seem to be an awful lot of goals around today and we are going away to Man City with a plan to attack - with our B team ! Could be bad!

The game is about concentration for me, because there are forwards on show for both sides that can really hurt you if you switch off even for a moment.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola: "We are very happy with the performance of the team, we had the better of the game and had many chances but we finish with one point. We cannot be happy with the point.

"We created a lot, four or five very clear chances and their goalkeeper had an amazing performance. Maybe our game management needs work, you can see why Villa are so high in the table and they scored a good goal.

"We should have made it 3-1 and the game would be over. We are playing well and winning duels but we need to continue, the level is so high you have to be very very good just to get one point.

"We play seven times in December so we will need every player."

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins to Match of the Day: "It was important that we came away with something. We didn't create too much in the second half but we didn't make the most of it in the first half when it was wide open.

"Our away form hasn't been up to standard and we know that, it's tough playing every few days but it's what we are here to do.

"It's horrible waiting for a VAR decision like that, some go against you and some don't. I'm not a big fan of it."

  9. 'Not our best point, but we will take it'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

FT: West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC Sport: "A really tight Premier League game. We got in front but gave away a horrendous goal. Sometimes in these games you just have to see it out but I have to say we made two or three chances at the which on another day we might have scored.

"It wasn't our best point, it wasn't our best performance but we will take something from the game."

On Konstantinos Mavropanos' mistake leading to the equaliser: "It happens, we are trying to improve in how we play and sometimes it happens.

"Overall I thought he played well today, he made a mistake for the goal but overall his performance was good."

Asked if the fans can play their part: "Yeah for sure - they can always play their part. It's a game at home, against, Tottenham always one of the big teams in England.

"Always have been good games, both teams I think want to attack, create chances."

We know enough about Ange Postecoglou to know he is not going to come to the Etihad Stadium and play on the break.

The Tottenham boss is committed to his style and he will not alter, no matter what injuries or suspensions come his way.

It will be fascinating to see if Manchester City go toe-to-toe with their visitors, or whether they wait for opportunities to present themselves.

I am going for the former. It should be a cracker.

  12. 'It would have been harsh if we got nothing'published at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

FT: West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought the game was pretty even.

"We had to survive a period in the last five minutes of the game and added time when they were getting the ball into the box. They were anxious moments but I had to accept those anxious moments are normal for us. It was important for us to not cave in and to make certain we dealt with those ball into the box.

"For the bulk of the game I felt we played an even game with them and showed at times we have quality in this team.

"I think it would have been very harsh if we had not got something we got from the game. You don't want to lose three games in a row.

"I am pleased the way the players rallied around."

  14. Pep praise for Postecogloupublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (16:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola references a pre-season match his side played in 2019 in his programme notes today as the day he knew how good Ange Postecoglou was.

City won 3-1 in front of 65,000 at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.

But Postecoglou's Marinos pulled level after an early Kevin de Bruyne effort and Guardiola has not forgotten how difficult the game was for his team.

"We know Ange Postecoglou well from his time with our friends in Yokohama - the team he built there was exceptional," said the City boss.

"We played them in 2019 and wow...what a game that was.

"I had no doubts after that night in Japan he was a top manager. It will be a pleasure to see him again."

It might be a case, I'm thinking myself as a central defender, you might actually say 'you know what, the press might be five or ten yards deeper today, we're still going to have the same type of principles, we're still going to try and be aggressive, play through midfield, get the full-backs between the lines' - all of those things.

I do think it would pay for you just to tweak things slightly rather than thinking it's this big change.

    Roy Keane

On Tottenham's defeat by Aston Villa

They should have got a result last week. They played generally some good stuff, missed a lot of chances, should have been two or three nil up at half-time, gave a soft goal away before half-time but the winning goal was definitely more 'Spursy'-like.

Really poor defending but they actually played well on the day.

  17. 'Postecoglou can adjust tactics without compromising philosophy'published at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

Your philosophy is your philosophy and you stick by that, it is your tactics that have to be tweaked depending on circumstances in games and at different points of the season.

I don't think people are asking Ange Postecoglou to change things completely, but given the injuries, Maddison, van de Ven among others, plus the suspensions, he does need to adjust slightly.

One of his great strengths is his stubbornness, but sometimes strengths can become weaknesses - the challenge for him is to make adjustments without being seen to be backing down from or compromising his philosophy and ideals.

At the same time, he doesn't want to be sitting there in three weeks' time having lost six matches on the bounce.

Really looking forward to this one. Two managers with the way they like to play, it should be interesting.

There's a sense of disappointment that Tottenham have got so many players missing, I would have loved to see a a full strength side come here and challenge Manchester City.

That said Ange Postecoglou won't change his principles, and to echo the words of Pep Guardiola, 'We're going to have lots of fun.'

Bernardo Silva was already a top player by the time he arrived at Man City, but he has just gotten better and better each season.

Playing alongside and learning from the likes of David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and so on, he has built on and learned more intricacies to several roles across the pitch for City, he can now play absolutely anywhere.

He can be relied upon by Pep Guardiola no matter what position he plays in - he plays in 360 degrees, he has that total awareness of his surroundings no matter where he is on the pitch.

Like other greats before him, David Silva, Gundogan etc it is hard to see a way that Guardiola or the team can cope without him.
