Burnley have learned from their earlier mistakes it seems. They have dropped deeper, have got closer together and have eight or nine men behind the ball.

Liverpool are leading and dominating the ball but are being asked to create.

The level of tactical nous and positional awareness when it comes to a lot of sides in this league is appalling! Burnley have the look of a team who don't do much out of possession training! Not much better in the Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest earlier! A game in which the midfield might as well not have existed! Superficial huff and puff and very little grit all round!

Many of us said Luton wouldn’t be good enough for PL and we were very wrong. It’s Burnley who aren’t good enough and they’re ridiculously naive as well.

  5. 'Confidence showed after we scored'published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 3-0 Fulham

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Yes, definitely [we had confidence] after we scored.

"Level game, it was not very open until we scored but then they had to push a little bit more, we could find more spaces and in the second half, we crated a lot of chances with good transitions and scored two more."

On Alex Scott's run to create the first goal: "It is good for us to have someone like Alex. He is more of a 10 or an eight than the six that he played today.

"But to have someone in the middle who can show this courage on the ball is great for the team."

On Dominic Solanke form: "I think he is playing with confidence. It's good that we scored from a penalty after two seasons or something like this!

    "This things make a difference."

On Luis Sinisterra's goal: "An amazing goal. We have a lot of inverted wingers and a lot of them try to find this situation. Today, Sini had the chance and he finished it amazingly so I'm happy for him."

On Spurs up next: "They are playing very well. They are a very good team.

"The first game against them I think we played really well but we lost 2-0. I hope we can improve on that."

    FT: Bournemouth 3-0 Fulham

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Very happy, the game was quite level until we scored. Not many chances but good phases for both teams. We were better second half."

On Alex Scott: “Very good goals. It’s good for us to have someone like Alex playing in the middle, probably lower than he is used to. He can make these types of run, carries the ball really well."

On Luis Sinisterra’s goal: "It’s his first goal for us, very good performance. It’s good to add goals from different players."

On watching from the stands: "It was not bad because we didn’t suffer as much in the second half. I had to control it. I will try to have better behaviour, and not have more yellow cards because I prefer the other experience."

On Bournemouth's form: "There are a lot of small things that are clicking. We know each other much better. Everyone is pushing. There is strong competition for minutes. It’s becoming tough for me to make the starting elevens, but it’s good for the team."

On Dominic Solanke: “He is giving us a lot of things. He is giving us a lot of play, a lot of good play for his team-mates, he is doing well without the ball. We are really happy for him."

  18. 'Leno is a top professional'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 3-0 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva speaking to BBC Match of the Day about missing Raul Jimenez: "Not just Raul, we are missing Willian as well. It cannot be an excuse for me because the other players have to step in and show their quality. Our attacking and midfield line, we didn’t show the quality at this level. On the ball we have to play and attack, that was not the level we normally play."

"It’s not going to be two games that changes everything. Before that everyone said we were flying, we were getting very good performances, very good results. Two bad results, this afternoon not the level of performance it should be. Of course, we have to understand why things are happening in this way and prepare for next game."

On goalkeeper Bernd Leno pushing the ball boy: "I spoke with Bernd before I came off, I saw the moment. I don’t know if it was instruction or not, but the ball boys were always delaying. The game should be the same if one team is winning or not. The ball boys were always delaying, Bernd wanted to play quickly and he took the ball from the ball boy. He didn’t push him, it wasn’t strong enough and he apologised. He is a top professional."
