    Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

Chelsea looking for an immediate response as they pile bodies forward. It comes out to Niamh Charles and Beth Mead loops away from her. Jonas Eidevall enjoyed that.

    What a game!

We have only just stopped summarising the goal before, it is good patient build up from Arsenal - Alessia Russo is narrowly onside.

She has one thing on her mind and does really well to finish there. We have seen it a couple of times before and it is a class finish into the back of the net.

It is a great ball in Amanda Illestedt peels off and Jess Carter is marking her.

Ann-Katrin Berger comes out and there is no need for her to come out at all, she does not need to commit there.

    Alessia Russo (38 mins)

    Chaos!

Alessia Russo has been trying to nail that run all game and this time she's got the ball in the back of the net.

A brilliant run and she loses both her defenders to just coolly pass into the back of the net.

What is going on for Chelsea?

  5. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 2-1 Chelseapublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    Amanda Ilestedt (36 mins)

A brilliant corner, whipped in by Steph Catley and Amanda Ilestedt is strong enough to muscle off Jess Carter and head into an open net.

Weird stat of the day, that is Arsenal's first headed goal of the season.

Ooooh, Caitlin Foord whips one into the far post looking for Beth Mead but Niamh Charles is there to head behind for a corner...

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

    Off we go again.

It looked like Emma Hayes was giving Guro Reiten a bit of a pep talk on the bench in that short stoppage.

From the way she has been shouting at Lauren James it seems she's not too pleased with what she's seen so far.

Sjoeke Nusken is back on her feet, while we wait for play to resume, here's how Chelsea equalised...

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

It does feel like the majority of this game has been played in the Chelsea half.

Sjoeke Nusken clashes with Kim Little on the edge of the area and the Chelsea midfielder is in need of a bit of treatment for a head injury.

The space Arsenal are getting out wide...

The home fans are enjoying this performance. The scoreline suggests it's been even but Arsenal have definitely felt more in control.

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

Here's how Beth Mead put Arsenal in control after eight minutes. Chelsea went and cancelled that out a few minutes later but it was a beauty from Mead.

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

Oh what a lovely ball from Katie McCabe to find Beth Mead on the right.

Good composure from Niamh Charles to swipe the ball away from her England teammate.

Mead then leaves a foot in on Lauren James and it looks like Emma Hayes is giving James a bit of a telling off.

  13. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

Free-kick for Chelsea as Victoria Pelova bashes into Sjoeke Nusken.

Decent ball from Eve Perisset to the far post but Chelsea can't make the most of it.

Katie McCabe is in bags of space down the right and is allowed to drive into the area but Erin Cuthbert is on hand to clear the danger.

It's been such an intriguing game so far. We know Jonas Eidevall loves a tactical battle with Emma Hayes.

So far, despite the teams being level, it looks like Arsenal are on top in terms of the gameplan.

Hayes hasn't been comfortable on the touchline at all and Arsenal look a threat every time they go forward.

To try to solve that issue at the back, it looks like Hayes has asked her Chelsea backline to drop a bit deeper to prevent runs in behind from Arsenal's speedy forwards and to deal with Alessia Russo in particular.

Nonsense to suggest Kerr blocks the keeper's view, it's just bad goalkeeping. Position yourself correctly and you won't concede at your near post!

    Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

It's been really entertaining stuff at Emirates Stadium so far.

Both teams look like they could score with every attack.

Eve Perisset makes a brilliant block to prevent Kim Littl'es square ball reaching Caitlin Foord, who would've tapped in at the back post.
