Here she is talking about her ACL recovery and the London derby.

Just days after England's Olympic dreams were slashed, several Lionesses are hoping to put that disappointment behind them.

Two players on a high are Chelsea's Lauren James and Arsenal's Beth Mead.

James, who dominated headlines at the Women's World Cup this summer, has netted five goals in her last two matches and is the WSL's joint-top scorer with six so far.

She has never scored against Arsenal in the WSL but it would be no surprise to see her take centre stage today.

However, Mead's return from injury could not have gone any better and it is like she never left as she bagged a double against West Ham in Arsenal's last WSL match before the international break.

She has netted eight goals against Chelsea in the WSL too so this is a fixture she very much enjoys...

  4. 'Great to have quality players back'published at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall, speaking to the BBC before the game.

On Kim Little and Lia Walti's return: "It is great for the competition of the squad, it is great to have quality players back that can start games for us.

"It has not been an easy decision to take on what the starting 11 is going to be today as we have a lot of competition.

"In football, the outcome is always the most important thing. You have to focus on the performance as that is what we are in control of. That is where the balance comes from, as a coach and a team."

On it being a mustwin game: "I don't think about it that way - we don't have a crystal ball to predict the future but we can do everything we can that we can control today.

"We can try to be as strong as possible at the Emirates."

It's a top two clash at the Emirates between two London clubs who have been WSL rivals for years.

But as well as some epic battles on the pitch, we've also seen feisty exchanges off it between two of the league's highest-profile managers.

There was the infamous black cat reference from Emma Hayes after Chelsea beat Arsenal in the 2021 FA Cup final and she rubbed salt into the wounds of Jonas Eidevall's suspicions by claiming she was 'purring' in victory.

That came after Eidevall's passionate knee slide in front of Hayes' staff as he celebrated Arsenal's 3-2 win at the Emirates in their season opener.

There will be plenty of focus on the two bosses again today as Hayes hopes to pick up a first win at Arsenal over Eidevall before she heads off to the United States in May.

Eidevall, who is unbeaten in his two home games against Chelsea in the WSL, could become just the second manager to not lose his first three against Hayes, joining former Manchester City boss Nick Cushing (W3, D3).

  6. Another record WSL crowd?published at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    Arsenal v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

Arsenal have sold over 58,000 tickets for this game. That would make it a WSL record attendance.

Will the bad weather affect the attendance, though?

We'll have to wait and see if this is a new record.

A big boost for Emma Hayes' side this weekend is the return of Norway winger Guro Reiten, who has been sidelined with injury since October.

Reiten was the top assist-maker in the WSL last season and one person who'll be glad to have her back is striker Sam Kerr. The pair formed a prolific partnership last season.

Reiten is on the bench today but could play a part later.
