Bethany England has been relatively quiet apart from having that early shot blocked.

That was the only touch she had in Manchester United's box, and she's only been in the final third twice.

At the moment, they seem quite content just to maintain their lead. They're not looking to go forward too quickly, just keeping the ball and recycling it at the back and into midfield.

Tottenham will be keen not to concede another. They won't be going all out to get an equaliser, knowing that they could be left vulnerable at the back.

It will be key for them to get in and regroup at half-time.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

Tottenham don't make anything of that free-kick, and they also don't do anything after a short period of possession after.

Manchester United lead going into the break.

Martha Thomas has just taken a knock but she's quickly back to her feet.

    Tottenham have a deep free-kick.

  6. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

It's definitely quietened down again, United building up and Spurs sitting back.

We've had 45 minutes and the fourth official adds one more.

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

Manchester United have a corner and try a different routine, Katie Zelem playing it short to Ella Toone.

It doesn't work and Tottenham gain possession.

For those who were still unsure about the scorer of United's goal, it's now been awarded to Melvine Malard.

The ball works its way up to Leah Galton and she's flattened by Ashleigh Neville.

United have a free-kick, but they can't make anything of it.

  10. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

Manchester United are looking more threatening, but they're still staying relatively calm.

They regain possession after a Leah Galton pass is intercepted, but they choose to turn behind and begin a passing move instead of running forwarsd.

  11. 'Wonderful run from Malard'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

It was a fantastic cross in from that left-hand side, cut back onto her right foot and swung it into a dangerous area. I think Molly Bartrip was the one who was caught out by Malard's run in behind her. I don't think she knew she was there.

I think it was a wonderful run from Malard, even if she didn't get the touch, because it meant that Spencer couldn't come and collect the ball. It made it really dangerous for them.

However, there's a chance for Tottenham!

Celin Bizet is out wide but chops inside to beat Hannah Blundell and curls a shot towards goal.

In the end it doesn't do much to trouble Mary Earps and she comfortably catches, but it was a bright idea.

Manchester United seem to have got to grips with this game now.

    Tottenham 0-1 Man Utd

There's some confusion about the Manchester United goal.

Melvine Malard might not have got a touch to it, and if she did it would only have been the slightest of touches.

United won't care who scored it, though. They're ahead.

GOAL - Tottenham 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    Melvine Malard (29 mins)

    The visitors take the lead!

That's probably the best chance United have created and it takes a clever finish from Melvine Malard to put her side ahead.

Hannah Blundell sends a perfectly-weighted pass in her direction and Malard gets the slightest of touches to take it past the Tottenham goalkeeper.

    Tottenham 0-0 Man Utd

Is that the (live text) commentator's curse in action?

A launched goal-kick finds Martha Thomas and she looks to run forwards with Bethany England but she's tripped before she can do so.

The ball falls to her teammates but they can't make anything out of it.

    More exciting, though.

  18. Postpublished at 26 mins

Truthfully, it's all a little bit flat at the moment.

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner is usually a very energetic man – instead he's sat on his bench holding his head.

    Tottenham 0-0 Man Utd

    Helen Ward
Former Chelsea and Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Tottenham are playing very well, apart from their Manchester City defeat. It's always good when you are playing for a side where your home form is so good.

It is nice to have a fortress and have that confidence every time you step out in front of your own fans. There is nothing worse than feeling like your home ground is the exact opposite of that.

But Tottenham seem to have found their feet here at Brisbane Road.

    Another chance through Leah Galton.

Jayde Riviere finds the winger inside the area with a clever ball, but her strike takes a deflection and goes over the crossbar.
