    Leicester 1-0 Tottenham

Brilliant wing play from Martha Thomas to turn Leicester defender Sam Tierney inside out and provide a low cut back into the box.

Celine Bizet latches onto the pass but is denied (not for the first time) by Janina Leitzig. In truth the forward never really got hold of the shot and it was easily gathered in the end.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2023

    Leicester 1-0 Tottenham

Janina Leitzig with a big top hand yet again for Leicester!

Jess Naz's curled finish looked to be looping beyond the German goalkeeper, but at the very last she stretched up a big left hand to tip the ball behind.

What more do Tottenham have to do to score in this game?

Can Spurs find a way to fight back and continue their fine form this season or will the Foxes claim another home win?

Amalie Thestrup's late strike lifted Bristol City off the foot of the Women's Super League with a draw against Everton at Walton Hall Park.

Summer signing Thestrup rolled a deft finish into the net with goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan off her line to score the Robins' second equaliser eight minutes from time, denying the Toffees a first home win of the campaign.

Megan Finnigan, who headed a clearance off the line during the first half, had lashed Everton ahead for a second time after the break.

Captain Finnigan fired decisively through a crowd of players after Justine Vanhaevermaet's effort hit the crossbar following a corner.

Amy Rodgers' thunderous first goal of the campaign in first-half added time had initially put the Robins on course to avoid a sixth defeat in seven top-flight games this season.

Scotland international Rodgers hammered a first-time strike past Brosnan after Everton summer signing Martina Piemonte had opened her WSL account in the fourth minute, scoring Everton's first goal from open play of the campaign after goalkeeper Olivia Clark, deputising for the injured Kaylan Marckese, saved the striker's initial close-range shot.

Megan Connolly rattled the woodwork from a corner before Rodgers drew City level in emphatic style.

Visitors Tottenham have the chance to leapfrog Manchester United into 3rd with a win this afternoon, with United set to host rivals Man City at Old Trafford in the late game.

However Tottenham are yet to win this season when trailing at half time.

Boss Robert Vilahamn will have to find a way to break down a resolute Leicester back line if they are to collect the three points they need.

Manchester United academy graduate Leah Galton is on the face of today's match programme.

She did an interview with the club which is the main feature and her answer to the first question feels very apt now...

"I am still soaking wet! I'm not sure I'll ever be dry again."

It's still absolutely chucking it down in Manchester. Standard. The players are 'warming up' now/getting more wet.

With United's shortages in full-backs at the moment, we think Galton will be starting at left-back today. A much more defensive role for the attacking winger.

  7. 'We need to be ready to adapt and evolve'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2023

Manchester United v Manchester City (16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner, speaking to Sky Sports before the game: "Manchester City are an excellent team and there is going to be a game where we need to adapt and the line-up does that.

"It is typical Manchester weather, we know how tough it is going to be and so will Manchester City. We need to play with the freshness of a United team but I want to see a total performance and if we give that we will have a good day.

"The games are getting bigger and more often so teams have to prepare psychologically. There will be nerves but it will be who can handle that. We have to own it mentally and we will have a great chance today."

On being at home is advantage: "I hope so. It might be 1% but i hope so. Man City have vast experience themselves but we have to make it count being at home. But we will try maximise that and do it today."

Janina Leitzig made five saves in the first half against Tottenham, as many as she made in the first half against Arsenal last week, when the Foxes also led at half time.

Again this afternoon the German shot stopper is having one of those games where you think it would take something special to beat her.

That's five WSL wins in a row for Arsenal as goals from Stina Blackstenius, Caitlin Foord and Frida Maanum give them what proved to be a routine win against Brighton.

Three goals, three points and now only three points behind leaders Chelsea.

Brighton are carved open. Alessia Russo crosses from the left, an unselfish Cloe Lacasse sets up Frida Maanum, and with no Brighton defender anywhere near her, is able to take her time and place the ball past Sophie Baggaley into the bottom corner.

    HT: Leicester 1-0 Tottenham

Another game, another half time lead for Leicester.

Janice Cayman's low driven strike is the difference between the sides at the break.

The Foxes have keeper Janina Leitzig to thank for holding their lead, as she produced several big saves to deny Tottenham an equaliser.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2023

    Leicester 1-0 Tottenham

Hannah Cain breaks into the penalty area and is brought down by Angharad James.

The home fans and Cain herself appeal for a penalty but none is forthcoming.

Replays show the defender got little to none of the ball, perhaps the Foxes were hard done by there.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2023

    West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Phew. A breathless first half.

West Ham started strongly and took a deserved lead, but it has been all Aston Villa since then.

Thankfully both Celine Bizet and Josie Green are back to their feet.

It initially didn't appear good on the replays, Bizet seemed to somewhat catch her studs in the turf and Green was run into with quite some force.

Both seem alright to continue for the final few minutes before the interval.

Half and half scarves still exist - even on Manchester derby day!

Faces of the usual club heroes such as Sir Bobby Charlton, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney were plastered all over scarves at stalls on the walk across Salford Quays to Old Trafford.

But the closer you got to the stadium, the more the merchandise became specific to the women's team.

Scarves with England goalkeeper Mary Earps on was a popular buy. I spotted her name on the back of several shirts too.

She is one of the most recognisable names in United's squad but there will be plenty others hoping to get on the scoresheet today.

    Another injury worry for Leicester.

Tottenham midfielder Celine Bizet overruns the ball and clatters into Josie Green, who is left needing more medical attention.

The physios are on attending to both players.

Replays show exactly that, a coming together as players jockeyed for position in the box.

Nothing more to it than that.
