  1. CLOSE!published at 47 mins

    Swansea 1-3 Southampton

Jamie Paterson nearly doubles his tally and that's what the Swansea fans will want to see.

He does well to switch the ball between his feet and move it around his defender to get a shot away, and it wasn't far off from curling in.

As it stands Southampton will move up to second in the table today with a win here.

That is probably Southampton's best half of the season.

The only negative possibly is... they should have had more goals.

Luke Williams would have been absolutely delighted had Swansea gone in at half-time trailing 2-1.

But having hauled themselves back into this contest thanks to their best move of the half, the home side have allowed Southampton to re-establish their two-goal advantage inside four minutes.

That is a difficult one for Swansea to swallow, though they cannot complain given the one-sided nature of this contest.

Once again, it looks a very long way back from here for the Swans.

    Saints have been absolutely magnificent.

One of the most enjoyable opening 45 minutes that I can remember.

Russell Martin's return to South Wales is going exactly as he hoped so far, with his side being completely dominant and taking a comfortable 3-1 lead in at the break, thanks to goals from Che Adams, Will Smallbone and Ryan Downes.

Swansea did pull one back between all that, through Jamie Paterson, but in reality that was an anomaly in a 45 minutes where Southampton looked in complete control.

Saints have had 16 shots to Swansea's two.

    Swansea 1-3 Southampton

Swansea get a chance right before the break with a free kick on the left side of the box. Matt Grimes' ball in is very easily cleared straight out which sort of sums up Swansea's attack so far.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45+1 mins

    Swansea 1-3 Southampton

Swansea's Jay Fulton takes a bit of frustration out and his wayward boot sees him go into the referee's book.

A deflection but I think that would have gone in anyway.

A really good shot as well from Flynn Downes.

That is how you mark your 25th birthday!

No sooner have Swansea pulled a rabbit out of the hat to get themselves back in the game, former Swansea man Flynn Downes unleashes a flyer from the edge of the box and it creeps past Carl Rushworth inside the post and in.

It took a very slight deflection from Jamal Lowe on the way, which has probably helped take it away from the Swansea keeper's hand.

A game which Southampton have utterly dominated has seen Swansea get back in the match.

It's not great from goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Saints aren't happy about that, it'll be a shock for them.

Where on earth has that come from!?

Harrison Ashby fires the ball into the box and Gavin Bazunu takes out Jamal Lowe in the air, in what could easily be a penalty, but the referee lets the play go on.

Luke Cullen picks up the rebound and squares it back to Jamie Paterson, who heads in to pull a crucial goal back for the Swans five minutes before the break.

  16. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Swansea 0-2 Southampton

Swansea fans are urging their side on the second they get the ball.

The problem is, they look a bit lost as to what to do with it when that happens.

  17. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Swansea 0-2 Southampton

Swansea just cannot get out of their box at all.

You'd think it was the final few minutes of a game, with a team trying to get a last-ditch equaliser, the way Southampton are piling forward and Swansea are holding on. It's total one-way traffic.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 32 mins

    Swansea 0-2 Southampton

Carl Rushworth has just made another fine save by throwing his body in the way of another Saints effort at the near post.

He's being pushed to the limit here.

Credit where it's due, Southampton are playing some lovely football here.

Ryan Fraser is almost in on goal again after a perfect ball over the top, but thankfully for Swansea he's flagged for handling the ball.
