Peter: Little wonder Everton's matches have produced the fewest goals this season. They can't score themselves and defend like mad.

Jude: City have obvious claims of being the best club team in the world. However, they are defo one of the most boring to watch. Think back to how exciting their neighbours were under Fergie. Chelsea and Liverpool also played enjoyable stuff.

An early effort from Dominic Calvert-Lewin flies comfortably wide. Sean Dyche had barely taken his seat and almost missed it!

Manchester City fans were treated to a dancing dragon on the pitch at half-time as part of the city's Chinese New Year celebrations - will they get to celebrate a goal today, though?

If Everton keep this up, then how long before Kevin de Bruyne is brought on? I give it 15 minutes...

Unusually slow, stodgy performance from City so far. Unfortunately I think Nunes is proving to be a real weak-link on the ball; he's making runs and playing passes you don't normally see from this team. I imagine he'll be hooked for Bernardo or De Bruyne and we'll watch City go through the gears.

    Tom

Why all the negativity about Dyche's tactics? They have had more shots on target than the mighty City

    HT: Man City 0-0 Everton

It's the first time Manchester City have failed to have a shot on target in a Premier League first half at home since August 2022 (v Crystal Palace.

They scored four goals in the second half to win 4-2 (Bernardo Silva, Haaland hat-trick).

Mike: Branthwaite looking sharp again this afternoon. If he maintains these levels he may follow Rooney and makes the trip down the East Lancs to Old Trafford this Summer

Michael: Possession stats may not show it, but I reckon Everton have been the better team this half.

Excellent tactics front Dyche, like we are gonna try and play football at the Etihad against City ...

Everton seem to want to be compact, interrupt City’s moves, intercepting but just pushing the ball back to City, not chasing it and maintaing their shape. After 80 mins, Everton may chase it for counter attacks as City might over-reach for a winner

    Christian

When people talk about Everton being negative why not look at Pep playing FOUR centre backs and a defensive midfielder at home to a bottom three club!

City almost score from a corner here though!

Manuel Akanji and Erling Haaland both have shots blocked, with James Tarkowski making a big one.

There's a very quick VAR check for potential handball but it's clear it's not.

You might think it's negative tactics but Everton, in the relegation zone, are SO FAR keeping out the defending champions on their home turf...

Glad Dyche wasn't chosen to manage our club. A younger version of Hodgson playing negative tactics.

    Peter: Palace fan here

Dan, I think you’re still in for a KDB haul. If only as I removed him last minute before deadline.

The free-kick comes to nothing. Julian Alvarez then wins the ball on the left but gives it straight to Jordan Pickford.

We've got three minutes added on for City to have a clean shot.

Only a matter of time before City score. They were like this against Brentford and look what happened there.

    Jez, Cheltenham

Last season you could have reasonably expected City to be 3-0 up by now given the possession they've had. Pep must be furious

    Luke

Can't believe I put KDB as FPL captain this weekend and he's benched! I'll be expecting a hat-trick from the Belgian 2nd half then!¿

    A chance for Everton.

Ashley Young's cross is headed down straight to the feet of Jack Harrison.

He has to hit it first time and is leaning back as he blasts it miles over and into the stands.
