  1. 'United's finishing has been impressive'published at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

I think it's what we've expected. United have been dominant with the ball, but how they've been clinical has impressed me.

Bruno Fernandes has had some real moments of quality and class, he looks full of energy and he is showing that to these players and supporters.

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

Scot Bennett's only option to stop Diogo Dalot down the right is to pull his shirt. Free-kick, which United can't make anything of.

  3. 'The first chance Newport have had'published at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

That's the first real chance Newport have had, it's a good strike actually. Evans, on his left foot, kept that down really well. Comfortable for Altay.

  4. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

First couple of chances for Newport and Will Evans. His first shot is blocked and his second is saved by Altay Bayindir at the keeper's near post.

  5. 'Man Utd better with Shaw in the team'published at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

Former England midfielder on BBC One

I always think Man Utd look a better side when Shaw is in the team. He’s good defensively, calm on the ball and gets forward well. They have missed him.

  6. 'First match after the news and we can get used to it'published at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    FT: Liverpool 5-2 Norwich

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was good, it was really good. We probably could have created more in the first half but it was really nice by Norwich as well. We didn't play quick enough or with enough purpose.

"We scored two good goals created by our young boys. We conceded then, that can happen. Both teams can take a lot of the game. We are in the next round and Norwich played good."

On youngsters: "They are really good. We wouldn't be where we are if these boys hadn't made the next step. James McConnell was put in the six because we had injuries in pre-season. Conor Bradley has everything at right-back. You can talk to him about tactics, he gets it.

"Jarell Quansah is an adult centre-half and nothing else. Our big guns are back now and we play again in three days. Chelsea and Arsenal, it doesn't get much bigger."

On atmosphere: "I get it, it's very emotional. I just have to make sure that I don't get on that side of it. I said they don't have to do it because I know our relationship already. In the games, we need to be warriors and not celebrate the old man on the side lines.

"First match after the news and we can get used to it. Chelsea are in a good moment, it will be tough but let's make sure we are ready for that."

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

Former England midfielder on BBC One

Fernandes is fuming and I think he’s right. If Garnacho squares that then Fernandes has a tap-in and the game is done. It’s a bit greedy.

Newport are just being completely run over. Alejandro Garnacho gets in behind from Lisandro Martinez's long ball and smashes a shot off the crossbar.

He had players free in the middle.

  11. 'Touch of class from Man Utd'published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Exactly what Manchester United to calm any early nerves and cool the atmosphere inside a fevered Rodney Parade. It has been a composed start by the Premier League team and an extra touch of class has given them the reward.

I saw Kobbie Mainoo score in a friendly last season for Manchester United against La Liga side Cadiz, as he was beginning to break into their first team.

This season he has really kicked on and the way he caressed the ball into the bottom corner further illustrates his quality.

He hasn't played alongside Casemiro in the United midfield since pre-season, due to both players' respective injuries, but the duo seem to be working well together today.

  13. 'I am grateful for everything Klopp has done for me'published at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    FT: Liverpool 5-2 Norwich

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: The big task is to get trough to the next round. It was a pleasing day because of the players coming back from injury and the young players getting another game. We're ready to go again for Chelsea."

On Anfield atmosphere: "It was the first time since the announcement that the manager was back in the stadium seeing all of the fans. It was always going to be a bit different. Within the squad, nothing has changed. It was very emotional on the day.

"As a squad, we have a lot of targets to achieve. Let's give it everything we have. The manager is her until the summer. We have to deal with the noise. It's my job as captain to make sure it doesn't reach our players."

On more motivation: "I can only speak for myself in this case. We have been through so much together and I am grateful for everything he has done for me, my family and my career. Why not end it on a high and make more memories? Let's see.

"We still have more goals. We don't just want to win for the boss. We want to win for ourselves, the club and because we are winners. We need a bouncing Anfield on Wednesday and a perfect performance against a good Chelsea."

On youngsters: "I'm very impressed with the youngsters. I see them daily in training. They have to keep working and stay humble. They're at a fantastic club and the culture here is outstanding for young players. You have to use the opportunity as well because you don't get many as a professional footballer."

  14. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Newport 0-2 Man Utd

The only time Newport players are getting near their United counterparts are when they're fouling them. Bruno Fernandes is the latest to get caught late.

  15. 'We got beaten by top quality'published at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    FT: Liverpool 5-2 Norwich

    Norwich City

Norwich City manager David Wagner, speaking to ITV: "Difficult. afternoon. But I'm fine with the competitiveness that the players have shown. They tried hard, we scored two great goals as well but obviously we got beaten by top quality. The result was a result that a lot of people expected, even though I hoped we could stay in the game for a little bit longer but we were not able to.

"To be totally honest, let's be fair they had the opportunities to score the goals in the game that they did. The FA Cup is over for us, we have big pictures in front of us which we like to attack and that is the Championship.

On targeting promotion: "If the question is do I have belief, 100% yes. we will compete and try everything in the play-offs and in the play-offs we know everything can happen and this is our aim."

On Klopp leaving Liverpool: "Obviously I wish him from the bottom of my heart every success which he can have. It wasn't nice to be the first one on his goodbye tour here in England which unfortunately didn't end with the result we hoped but at the end of the day I wish him all the best and all the luck which he needs."

It’s real quality again. They’ve started the game well. Dalot is involved again and he picks the right pass and that’s a super first-time finish from Mainoo. Very calm. It’s been a brilliant start from Man Utd.
