Like this tie, Rodney Parade is alive once more.
Suddenly it's like the opening few minutes again, with every Newport touch prompting huge roars from their fans.
It might still be a tall order for the League Two side - but they have hope.

I wonder what Hojlund is thinking after several months at Utd. The wingers are so selfish, always cutting inside and shooting themselves. He gets no service.

There might be more to come, but no one was expecting that goal, it came out of nowhere. What a goal!
Newport 1-2 Man Utd
That's only the 12th goal of 27-year-old Bryn Morris' career. Five have come this season.

What a strike! It's taken a little deflection, but Morris still strikes it really well. He chests it down, it comes off Martinez's head, but that's the stroke of luck you need. It takes it past Altay. What a hit!

Mainoo has been a real plus for Manchester United this season. He's really taken to first team football so easily, he looks so established. Great off the ball, comfortable on it. He could save them a lot of money in the market.
Newport 1-2 Man Utd
Game on out of nowhere. United should have been ahead by a few goals.
Bryn Morris
HELLO!!!!
United don't properly clear a long ball from the Newport goalkeeper. Bryn Morris takes a touch and rifles in a shot from 30 yards which deflects off Lisandro Martinez and into the back of the net.

Ryan Delaney's looping header for Newport is saved by Altay Bayindir. A half-chance at best.

What I'm surprised is why Antony isn't doing crosses in training on his right foot so he can do that. Just do some runs, float some up, they don't need to be fizzed in. I was at Fulham with Damien Duff and he was brilliant at that. He'd float some in with his right and cut in when he can on his left. It's really simple stuff.

"Seen them given" says Danny Murphy as a replay shows Alejandro Garnacho might have been caught there.

McLoughlin needs some help from Clarke, United keep going down that side. If McLoughlin is going tight on Garnacho, Clarke has to anticipate that ball. Six, seven times now United have got in that way.

Antony knows tonight is a great chance to get his first goal in nine months. He cuts in and has a shot tipped over by Nick Townsend. Seconds later he has an effort blocked.

Here is the second goal which put United in control.
Mainoo doubles United's lead
FT: Liverpool 5-2 Norwich
Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to ITV: "Good game, cup game, Norwich had their moments and scored wonderful goals but they did well. Their second goal was exceptional, really good finish. Our goals were wonderful, we played well from the beginning. Four of our five goals were set up by academy graduates which was really cool so only positives from the game.
On Curtis Jones: "Curtis is in a great moment for us, super important in different departments. He's a very good player but he is a role model as well coming up through the academy. All of our guys coming up through the academy are good guys who can play football. If Curtis Jones can learn defending, everyone can learn defending. Offensive play, this high press which he is setting for us. If he can do it everybody can do it and you see that James [McConnell] played a super game today, you see it with all the kids, Bobby [Clark] when we brought him on recently. It's the same. They are all really good footballers. they make these steps and Curtis shows how it goes so I am really happy about that."
"It's good to have players back, Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Robbo [Andy Robertson], Dom [Szoboszlai], we need all of our players and hopefully we are in a good shape.
On the reception from the fans: "It was great for the fans to show their love to me and we need an atmosphere on the pitch. We need the crowd and for them not to think about the manager. We need to forget it for a while and go for each opponent like crazy and that's what we want to do and the next chance is on Wednesday."

Whereas this is pretty much the dream scenario for United, Newport seem lost after those two early goals.
Plan A - keeping it tight and making this game a battle - has gone out of the window and, as the Exiles search for an alternative, the atmosphere among the home supporters is still a bit flat.

Wonderful, wonderful block from Delaney. Again, Garnacho does well, pulls it back to the penalty spot and Antony thinks he's scored. A brilliant block.
Newport 0-2 Man Utd
Newport captain Ryan Delaney denies Manchester United a third.
Alejandro Garnacho, instead of shooting again, cuts it back for Antony. The Brazilian's shot looks like it's going in for 3-0 but Delaney throws himself in the way.
