I'll take that at half time considering how poor Newcastle have been recently. We can't pass but luckily Fulham can't shoot straight.

    Dave, Northumberland

Aleks: I'm admittedly watching the game with half-an-eye, but to all those writing that this Newcastle team is much stronger than this Fulham side etc, all the stats show Fulham dominance: possession, corners, shots, fouls committed more by NU etc.

Yes, the ball did strike the arm. No, it wasn't deliberatel And it wasn't the goalscorer. Does that clear it up?

    Paul, Cramlington

Bruno's arm is tucked right in at point blank range. If it doesn't hit his arm it hits his side and the same result, goal. We aren't playing hockey rules! Goal should stand.

    Andi

If that ball hits a Fulham defender's arm and is then cleared it's 100% a penalty, that's a bad VAR. Bad. Dan Burn clears out Fulham's most dangerous player and nothing, then VAR doesn't give handball for the goal. I'd be fuming if I were Fulham.

It is nice to see common sense prevail in this situation [the Newcastle goal].

Guimaraes doesn't really know that the ball has hit him, it is clearly not intentional. And it was a lovely finish from Longstaff, a great turn and strike into the bottom corner.

    HT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Paul Mortimer
Former Charlton player on BBC Radio London

When Dan Burn heads the ball down two Fulham players could have cleared it but left it to one another. It’s been a good game and Fulham have not been without their moments. Both teams are passing out from the back but it scares me because they are not very good at it. There’s a lot of football to be played yet.

I'd expect some hearty complaints from Fulham about the nature of that opening goal. But there's plenty of time to turn this around of course.

  8. 'A fantastic game'published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

It's a fantastic game. Even though they haven't got the scoreline, Marco Silva's side will be pleased with how they have played. If Newcastle can get that ball into Isak, they will cause more problems.

If you ask Marco Silva, he will probably leave it for the next 10/15 minutes. With their attitude and personnel, Fulham have played well, they just haven't had the chances of Newcastle.

Re Russell: This Newcastle team should win by a few goals. Newcastle's team out there is far stronger than Fulham's starting 11!

NUFC lucky to be ahead after a blatant handball. Not complaining though. Really missing Almiron today!

  12. 'Miles offside'published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Paul Mortimer
Former Charlton player on BBC Radio London

Jacob Murphy was miles offside but he doesn’t have to be. Fulham are threadbare at the back for some reason. He’s made a decent run but he doesn’t need to be offside, there’s no one marking him.

  13. 'Excellent from Trippier'published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Don Hutchison

It's a great ball in from Kenny Tete. Again, Anthony Gordon rushed to give the ball away but it's excellent defending from Kieran Trippier to get rid of it.

Willian nearly has a tap-in with his first touch! Kenny Tete puts in a brilliant cross, Willian would have a tap-in but Kieran Trippier tucks it behind for a corner.

Harry Wilson can't carry on with that shoulder injury - so Willian is on just before the break.

Murphy went early, but that is case in point. If Isak's first touch is on, you can see everyone running off him and the opportunities are there.

  17. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 45 mins

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

Thumping finish! Jacob Murphy runs in behind the Fulham defence and crashes in a shot across goal and in but the flag is then raised. He was well off though.

  18. 'Guimaraes rushed it'published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Guimaraes rushed that, he had options to find Isak and he rushed it. At half-time, Eddie Howe may need to say don't rush, take the extra touch, because the chances are coming.

  19. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

The Newcastle fans are singing Status Quo at full volume as Fulham look to get a foothold back in the game before the break. Newcastle can sit in and hit them on the counter now though and they have so much pace up top. One good ball could have set Alexander Isak in on goal but it's slightly overclubbed.

  20. 'That goal will boost Newcastle'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a great strike from Longstaff, he struck it true right into the corner. That goal comes at the perfect time and should given Newcastle a real lift.
