    Got to score!

Great play from Mayra Ramírez though, she shows what she can do as she rolls her marker and then charges away down the right.. Great pace and strength, and then the presence of mind to pull the ball back into the middle.

It's a perfect pass for Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, who is on the penalty spot, leans back and blazes it over!

Courtney Brosnan was caught in two minds a bit there, and the ball dragged a bit and Lauren James was able to nip in and take it.

There's nothing worse than being in a half space like that as a goalkeeper. Luckily for Everton one of her defenders was there to bail her out of trouble.

Maverick goalkeeping! Chelsea send Lauren James in over the top and Everton keeper Courtney Brosnan commits to her decision of coming out to meet her.

She's about 45 yards from goal when she gets to the pitch of the ball and forces James wide, the England star rounds her but she's well, well wide on the left and her eventual cross/shot on goal is easily dealt with in the middle.

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

Bang! Everton half clear a ball and Melanie Leupolz strides on to it and smashes a shot from about 25 yards - well over the bar though.

Better from Everton, switching the ball quickly on the turnover and finding Rikke Madsen on the left. She gets the ball in quickly, right into the goalmouth but Jess Carter is at her station to head clear.

For all Everton's decent approach work they just haven't looked like scoring all night.

  6. 'Intriguing battle between Wheeler and James'published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That battle between Clare Wheeler and Lauren James in the middle of the park is so intriguing.

James almost ran too quickly with the ball there which allowed Wheeler to get back in and nick it back for Everton.

Lauren James with the ball at her feet and green grass in front of her, the crowd are on their feet - but she loses the ball.

She's not been quite at it tonight.

Chelsea get the ball rolling in the second period.

  9. Postpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Here come the sides. Arsenal were 1-0 up at the break against West Ham and suffered a damaging defeat. Chelsea can't afford a similar slip here.

Defeat would leave Everton in 10th place - the bottom half is seriously tight.

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

Everton have picked up 10 points in their last five away Women’s Super League matches (W3 D1 L1), although they did lose their last away game 2-1 at Arsenal.

You can see why they've been in the points. They're well in the game.

  12. 'Not the most exciting first half'published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    HT: Chelsea 1-0 Everton

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It was not the most exciting first half in terms of chances in front of goal.

Chelsea need to be doing more when they get into the final third, they dominated possession, but they need to get crosses into the box quicker. Mayra Ramirez's final product isn't there yet but her endeavour has been excellent.

Everton have had some chances, some crosses into the box, but is just not quite there yet. I think they have more in the locker, and would like to see more from them in the second half.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

A bit low key but Chelsea have a three-point lead in the table if it stays like this.

  14. Postpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

Ashley Lawrence whips in a lovely cross from the Chelsea left that was crying out for a touch - nobody gambles on the near post though and Courtney Brosnan can field on the bounce.

  15. Postpublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Everton have competed well and wasted that one great chance - but they have also yet to have a shot on target as we reach the interval.

  16. Postpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

Some classic old school chanting behing Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan's net as she takes a goal kick. Brosnan was also booked for protesting against the penalty decision I can belatedly tell you.

A short-lived crisis. Lauren James gallops up from some treatment and looks OK for now. We'll keep an eye on that of course.

    Claire Rafferty

Lauren James did engage in a few tussles earlier on in the game with some of the Everton defenders, so it appears she may have actually picked up a bit of a knock.

This is a worry for Chelsea, and football fans in general. After that cross Lauren James has gone down and needs treatment.

  20. CLOSE!published at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

Lauren James has been remarkably quiet so far but she drops deep on the right and puts in a dreamy cross, cutting out the Everton defence.

Mayra Ramírez can't get there and then goalscorer Guro Reiten heads wide on the stretch.
