We've seen this scenario before this season.

Will Luton avoid another hard-luck story this time?

There's still plenty of time left and the atmosphere inside Kenilworth Road has completely changed.

    The locals sense another goal.

    Game on!

Carnage inside the Villa box from a corner as Reece Burke's attempt is brilliantly cleared off the line by Matty Cash but Villa cannot get it away.

The balls eventually drops for Tahith Chong who pokes home from close range.

@Neil 18:47 Luton may well go straight back down, but good lord they have been a fabulous addition to the league. It's a fairytale story, one which I personally still believe may have a happy ending. Luton have gone about their football in all the right ways, I for one hope they get the reward their admirable approach deserves.

    Luton 0-2 Aston Villa

A pretty impressive 60 minutes from Villa. They've exposed Luton's weaknesses going forward and defended well at the back. Villa have not won at Kenilworth Road since 1989. To be fair, it's not a ground they visit often.

Watkins is one of the most underrated players! Should be in the England squad without a doubt! I see top 4 club snapping him up!

Aston Villa will be keen to get on the ball and maintain possession.

Luton are playing in the wide areas and both of Luton's flanks have been far more effective.

Villa's travelling fans are enjoying themselves. A fair chunk of them at Kenilworth Road will be heading to Amsterdam in the week for Thursday's Europa Conference League clash with Ajax. Good times.

  14. 'Luton playing a higher line'published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March

    Luton 0-2 Aston Villa

    Mark Warburton
Former Brentford boss on BBC Radio 5 Live

Luton look good, they are playing a higher line and denying some of the space that was available to Ollie Watkins in the first period.

The crowd are backing them too and they need to make sue they attack their chances.

Andros Townsend is the player making way for Daiki Hashioka. To be fair, Luton have done reasonably well in this half. Will their latest change have an impact?

Re. to Adrian at 18.15 - Chelsea should give a blank cheque to Villa for Watkins... no offence, that's pretty presumptuous that Watkins would want to leave for a club miles behind in the league!

Unfortunately injuries are taking their toll on us now - our first XI is good but we have no squad depth and a team as slick as Villa can exploit it.

Neil in the main stand at Luton

No idea if Barkley will or should be in the England squad. Haven’t watched Luton enough to say if I’m honest. However, what a fantastic addition to the already film worthy Luton Town story that would be! From points deduction and non league to the Premier League and an England player at a major tournament!

    Tom, London

Ian: Luton are doomed I'm afraid, those alarm bells have been ringing for ages.
