When you say ‘no changes at the break’ do you mean both teams are still dreadful?

Better from Everton as Dwight McNeil's looping cross is headed down by James Tarkowski and Abdoulaye Doucouré subsequent hooked shot is blocked by Scott McTominay's knee.

At the other end Everton have acres and acres on the right, but Ben Godfrey's low cross can't find anyone in the middle. The Toffees have been so wasteful today.

    Man Utd 2-0 Everton

Manchester United look sharp on the break though as Bruno Fernandes feeds in Alejandro Garnacho, but the Argentine is flagged for offside after timing his run a smidge too early.

    What a joy to watch.

I think a club should have one penalty taker. I just want to see Marcus Rashford score goals, maybe I'm a little bit biased.

I do see your point Baz, and it must be frustrating as a Manchester United fan seeing all this negativity even when your side are winning.

But believe me mate, United have been incredibly poor. They can't seem to keep hold of the ball and it's only Everton's woeful finishing that is keeping them in front.

Changes in midfield are a must.

Baz: I really don't get all the hysteria generated by the media about Utd and this game is a classic example. Three of the regular back four missing, and no Hojlind but 2-0 up. Everton are doing what they always do, always in the game but cannot score. Why all the drama??!!

By the way, Manchester United have had two penalties in the first half of a Premier League match for the second time in their history, after a 3-1 win at Norwich on 27 October 2019.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial actually missed both spot-kicks in that game.

You can't help but think Sean Dyche could turn to his bench because Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the bench.

We know what a threat he is and he's probably unfortunate not to be playing but his goalscoring record of late hasn't been great.

The danger here for United is that in spite of the two goal advantage, they've been so undeserving of that lead. They get complacent when they're playing well and winning, so I'd still be somewhat troubled if I were Erik Ten Hag at present. They cannot afford to let Everton back into this the way they're playing.

    Ben

All this talk about the two penalties 'papering over the cracks'. Surely the overall aim is to put the ball in the back of the net - which Man Utd have done. Everton have had a lot of possession but lack a cutting edge.

The half ends with yet more Manchester United sloppiness!

The home side give the ball away in the corner and Everton manage to squeeze a pass into the box where the unmarked Dwight McNeil should score.

His side-footed effort though is blocked by Kobbie Mainoo. Story of the game.

    What a waste!

Alejandro Garnacho goes clean through on goal, beating the offside trap. But the youngster tries to do too much and Jarrad Branthwaite recovers to win the ball back.

Everton boss Sean Dyche was just having a moan to fourth official Gavin Ward.

He was pointing to both boxes, which could have been a complaint that decisions are given at one end of the pitch which are not forthcoming at the other.

The conversation stopped and Ward retreated, just as Everton curled a corner over a packed penalty area and out of play for a goal-kick.

I think Dyche has more to deal with than then odd decision.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 45 mins

    Penalty number three?

Alejandro Garnacho's cutback strikes the palm of a sliding Vitalii Mykolenko.

United are convinced, but it's accidental says VAR and the referee.
