    HT: Man City 2-0 Newcastle

100% of Newcastle's shots have been on target.

Granted, that is one shot, but it's something.

Manchester City have had 11 efforts, four of which were on target.

  2. 'Doku has started really well at City'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    HT: Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC One

I think Doku has started really well at City. There was a debate between him and Grealish, Grealish adds more control but Doky has got more composure and has that ability to be explosive and make you look silly. He's only 21, he's got time to improve.

Here's that early yellow card for Newcastle defender Fabian Schar. A few of you are saying it was harsh.

Have a watch here and see what you make of it - is it a booking? Hit the thumbs.

  4. 'Two flukey goals'published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    HT: Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One

City have been much the better team, they've scored two flukey goals but they've deserved. When Newcastle competed at St James's Park, it was much different. When you've got 50,000 people roaring at you, it does help you. You're going to understand that you will suffer in terms of possession.

  5. 'Kovacic has really helped'published at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    HT: Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC One

Newcastle have defended well up to a point, it's that last bit where it's a bit of luck or a mistake. Kovavic in midfield has really helped City.

  6. Postpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    HT: Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Alan Shearer has just said on BBC One that Manchester City lead by two "flukey" goals.

The home side won't care about that.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Straightforward for holders Manchester City, so far. Newcastle will be disappointed with that half.

  8. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

We're into two minutes of added time.

  9. 'Once Doku is through on goal, you can't stop him'published at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It's that man Doku again, once he is through on goal you can't stop him. A good save from Dubravka, he takes a whack. Doku has really impressed so far.

  10. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Jeremy Doku continues to make a nuisance of himself and sees another effort saved by Martin Dubravka.

The resulting corner is headed down at the back post by Erling Haaland and it's Ruben Dias who tests the keeper but the defender can't generate the power on his header and Dubravka saves down to his right.

  11. 'If City get a third, Newcastle are done'published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Newcastle have only had one chance, but if they took it they would be back in it. If City get a third, Newcastle are done.

  12. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

To be fair I can think of a couple of teams who have gone to the Etihad this season and really got at City and given it a go.

Chelsea being one of those teams and, ironically, Newcastle being the other earlier this season.

Tonight, though, that hasn't really been the case.

Newcastle have made this a proper cup tie, battling for every ball and putting huge pressure on Man City. Sorry I mean have NOT, not done any of those things and just rolled over.

    David, NI

Howe's tactical ineptitude is being exposed here. He needs to go and Mourinho come in.

    Geordie Les

When is a team apart from Liverpool going to start giving City a game instead of just rolling over. Even with two slices of good luck this game was over when it kicked off.

  14. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

The chances keep coming for the home side and this time it's Jeremy Doku who strikes towards goal.

It takes a deflection but it's not as lucky as Bernardo Silva's two goals and instead goes behind for a corner.

  15. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Glorious stuff from Phil Foden as he takes a lovely touch from Josko Gvardiol's pass to just knock it ahead for himself. He hits a decent strike with his left foot but can't quite get it on target from a tight angle.

  16. 'Doku is electric'published at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Doku is electric. Great feet, great balance. I wouldn't want to play against him, that is for sure. They say watch the feet not the ball, it's not as simple as that. I tried that once against Gianfranco Zola at Anfield, it didn't go well.

  18. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

These two sides have already faced each other three times this season and each time it has been a pretty close, entertaining encounter.

This time we've had two goals that Newcastle will be really disappointed to concede.

  19. 'You've got to have belief'published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

The reality is you can talk about systems for as long as you like, but you've got to have belief, energy, make tackles.

  20. Done and dusted already?published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Just over half an hour gone and already hard to see any way back for Newcastle United. And to make matters worse, two really soft goals.

Newcastle's fans are still making plenty of noise but it looks like it will all be in a losing cause.
