  1. 'Those chances won't come along too often'published at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Should have been 2-1, the best chance for Newcastle. It's a great move, but Isak has got to score with his quality. It's a good save but that's got to be nestling in the back of the net.

He gets it down and keeps it on target but in a game of this magnitude, and the few chances you get, you've got to score. Those chances won't come along too often.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 38 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Ohh Alexander Isak is absolutely gutted not to have scored there.

Jacob Murphy fires across for Dan Burn at the back post, he heads it down for Isak and the striker just swipes at it with his left foot but Stefan Ortega gets down to make a really good save.

He will have expected to score that.

  3. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Here's how Manchester City opened their account in the FA Cup quarter-final.

It looks like both goals will go down as being scored by Bernardo Silva despite the heavy deflection for the first and the header from Sven Botman for the second.

  4. 'Silva will be appreciated more when he leaves Man City'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

I think Bernardo Silva will be appreciated more when he leaves, similar to David Silva. He is so intelligent and he can play anywhere on the football pitch.

  5. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Newcastle will be really disappointed with this. Two almost identical goals which you just don't want to concede, particularly against a side like Manchester City.

  6. 'Great players don't tend to celebrate lucky goals'published at 18:04 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

I think it's come off Botman's head. It's another poor goal to concede. Width from Walker, Dan Burn gets caught again. City get lucky again, but it's that right side once again.

They are two far off Bernardo Silva, it's too easy to step inside. You need to get closer to block things and make tackles.

Bernardo Silva has been lucky twice, great players don't tend to celebrate lucky goals.

  7. goal

GOAL - Man City 2-0 Newcastlepublished at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Bernardo Silva (31 mins)

It's very similar to the opening goal, this, as Bernardo Silva drifts towards the penalty area on the right-hand side and fires towards goal.

It's towards the far post and Sven Botman actually heads it down into his own net.

That may well go down as an own goal, actually.

It's a muted celebration from Silva, he knows he's got pretty lucky with both of those goals.

City's patience mentally tires team out, not only do their opponents have to constantly move, but they are constantly having to concentrate as well.

  9. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Phil Foden's free-kick is turned behind for a corner and the winger steps up to take that too.

Erling Haaland leaps highest and connects with a powerful header but it's knocked up towards the other end.

  10. 'Newcastle have had bad luck with injuries'published at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Newcastle have had bad luck with injuries, I know every club has but theirs was monumental at one stage, they were having to play the same 11 for a number of games.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Jamaal Lascelles goes into the book for bringing down Jeremy Doku and City have a free kick around 30 yards out.

  12. 'Newcastle haven't threatened enough'published at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It's not been a bad response from Newcastle, they've just not threatened that goal enough.

  13. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Eddie Howe has got his notepad out on the touchline. Tactics or getting his takeaway order ready for later?

  14. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Phil Foden has a crack from range but it flies miles over. He did hit a peach in the derby so I think he can be let off for that one.

  15. 'Guardiola gives City's freedom to be patient'published at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

City's patience is incredible to watch sometimes, one of the hardest things to do in football is to stay patient sometimes and Pep Guardiola gives them the freedom to do that.

  16. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Manchester City are just casually knocking the ball around the edge of the Newcastle penalty area and the visitors are allowing them to do so.

Patient play from City but eventually it's given away and Newcastle look to get involved.

Jacob Murphy fires one across from the right but there's no one in the box and Stefan Ortega comes out and gathers with ease.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Bruno Guimaraes gives the ball away wide on the left and it comes out to Kyle Walker on the right, he tries to square across but it's a black and white shirt that gets there first.

  18. 'Better from Newcastle'published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Better from Newcastle, good defending from Akanji, he didn't dive in. Newcastle are trying to get on the front foot and that is when Newcastle are at their best.

  19. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle win a free kick and take it quickly but lose momentum as Jacob Murphy can't get it under control.

Manuel Akanji turns it behind for a corner, which also comes to nothing.

  20. 'That's not a yellow card'published at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

That's not a yellow card, surely? That's not really a yellow card, there's no need for it. I like Simon Hooper but that was unnecessary as far as I was concerned.
