  1. 'Very well done Ipswich'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 1 April

    FT: Ipswich 3-2 Southampton

Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

They dug in and dug-in and counter-attacked. You can see why Leif Davis has so many goals and assists from that left hand side.

They have stuck to the plan tactically and in the end very well done Ipswich.

I feel very sorry for Southampton, but in football you have to be able to stand up and deal with different things like that - that's why they won't be going up automatically.

Ipswich Town go to the top of the Championship after a quite remarkable game against promotion rivals Southampton.

Jeremy Sarmiento came off the bench to take the points with the winner in the final moments, recovering after a stumble to poke the ball in to the corner to send the fans wild.

Southampton had dominated at times, leading 2-1 through Che Adams and Adam Armstrong goals, but then had James Bree sent-off.

Leif Davis, who put Town ahead, was involved in the move which saw Nathan Broadhead score, and his fellow sub Sarmiento delivered the ultimate super-sub move to seal it.

    What a game.

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

I am just thinking that goal could be a promotion winner. I know it's early but that has changed the whole complexion of the promotion picture. To come back and win 3-2.

    Priceless.

  11. 'Saints are too open'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 1 April

    Ipswich 2-2 Southampton

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

Southampton can't afford to draw, I am not sure a point is enough in the title race, but I suppose with the situation now it's probably a good point.

They have got to get back quicker. Southampton have to remember they are a man short and play like it.

  12. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Ipswich 2-2 Southampton

Brilliant break by Ipswich, as Leif Davis and Nathan Broadhead win possession and break.

The Tractor Boys full-back powers on, before squaring to his teammate but the shot is blocked. Desperate from Saints.

Ipswich go for a short free-kick with Jack Taylor teeing up Nathan Broadhead, but Saints are quick out and block it.

Red card shownImage source, PA Media

I think that's a modern error. They invite the crossfield ball too much and end up in a bad position. I felt all along Leif Davis would win the ball and the defender would be three or four yards out of position.

It's a costly mistake, inviting the crossfield ball. They have a free-kick in a dangerous position and are a man down now too.

  15. RED CARD: James Bree (Southampton)published at 85 mins

    Ipswich 2-2 Southampton

Ipswich play a raker of a cross-field ball which Leif Davis tracks perfectly.

James Bree was slow to react, lost the flight briefly and ends up running across his opposite full-back and bringing him down.

Last man. Red card. Saints down to 10 late on.

  16. 'Can they make an impact?'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 1 April

    Ipswich 2-2 Southampton

    Jo Tessem

Joe Aribo and Stuart Armstrong have been absolutely fantastic but players get tired and it's the right time to take them off.

Smallbone and Rothwell have to be ready here, ready to come on and win the game.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

Will Smallbone and Joe Rothwell come on for Saints, as they look for a late winner.

  18. Postpublished at 84 mins

Southampton get the ball in the box but Jack Stephens can't get a clean head on it and Ipswich instead mop up through goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.

Not sure how much they'll add on.

  19. Postpublished at 80 mins

Samuel Edozie bursts down the left but overruns the ball and it goes behind for an Ipswich goal-kick.

This game shows no signs of slowing down.

  20. 'More excellent goalkeeping from Hladky'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 1 April

    Ipswich 2-2 Southampton

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

That's excellent goalkeeping, he just gave him no room whatsoever to put the ball in the back of the net. The first one was a chance missed though.

It's really end-to-end now, it is a game that could go either way.
