That's Lewis Hamilton's 65th career pole position, moving him level with Ayrton Senna.

How fitting that one of the best pole laps of his career equaled his hero's record.

    What a lap. Sensational.

Lewis Hamilton is back out on the track with two minutes to go. Sebastian Vettel still in the pits so there's going to be quite the gap between Hamilton doing his flying lap and Vettel completing his.

Vettel will have another set of tyres. He will get into the pit as quick as possible, do a quick change and try and wrestle the pole away from Hamilton.

How close is this!? Sebastian Vettel cuts the timing beam just four thousandths of a second down on Lewis Hamilton.

He is straight into the pits for a fresh set of ultra-softs ready for another crack at snatching pole position.

Right now, I would like to be a fly on the wall in the Ferrari garage to hear the conversation between the drivers and engineers. I think they will have been rocked by that lap from Hamilton.

Surely Lewis Hamilton has this in the bag? Valtteri Bottas needs to find four tenths of a second to beat him while Sebastian Vettel needs more than six tenths.

Stunning lap from Hamilton. He hooked round every one of the 14 corners. A blinding lap. By the far the quickest of this weekend.
