  1. Di Resta set for F1 return?published at 10:54 British Summer Time 29 July 2017

I've just spoke to Claire Williams, she refuses to comment on going forward but she has said Felipe Massa has been taken ill again. I would bet money right now on Paul di Resta being in that car.

Credit to Felipe Massa, though. IF he is still feeling unwell he still managed to go quicker than his Williams team-mate Lance Stroll. He has the 17th quickest time having gone a tenth quicker than Stroll.

Romain Grosjean spins at Turn 2 but rights himself with little fuss.

However, it is off the track where things are looking interesting. Felipe Massa, who felt unwell yesterday, is back in the Williams garage after managing 12 laps this morning and we've just spotted reserve Paul di Resta disappear into the garage.

Is the Brit going to have to step in for qualifying...?

Mercedes are struggling to get these tyres working around here and Lewis, pushing as hard as he does, is locking up.

Not a great lap by Lewis Hamilton with errors here and there. He improves, but only to go fourth, 1.417 seconds down on Sebastian Vettel.

This is setting things up for a fascinating qualifying session.

    Wow!

Massive lap by Sebastian Vettel as he smashes the lap record with a 1:17.017 to go eight tenths clear of Valtteri Bottas.

    Ferrari are on fire.

The stricken Red Bull has been hoisted off the track and we're back at full speed once again.

Valtteri Bottas has swapped his softs for super-softs and is on a quick lap now. Will it be quick enough to move top of the pile?

Never mind, Daniel, plenty going on in the paddock to keep you entertained for the remainder of practice.

He might not fancy the Scalextric now, though...

"Everything turned off," says Daniel Ricciardo.

"Do not change gear," he was told before getting out of the car.

I make it he got about 15 minutes maximum on the track this morning.

    Drama! Big drama.

After a perfect day for Daniel Ricciardo yesterday its all gone wrong for the Australian this morning as he pulls up to the side of the track and stops with a problem. He climbs out of his Red Bull and trudges off to the edge of the circuit. That's his session over.

Birthday boy Fernando Alonso leaps into sixth place with a 1:19.097 on the super-softs but it is a lap not without a bit of concern as a puff of smoke comes out of the rear of his McLaren when he takes the corner at Turn 7.

Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton are out for the first time today and, unlike those around them, they've opted for soft tyres.

Bottas' first time puts him P4, a second down on Sebastian Vettel's time. Lewis Hamilton's initial effort has him fifth but he improves with his next run, going third after a 1:18.739.

To put that in perspective that time was more than half a second faster than Daniel Ricciardo's time from yesterday.
