A perfect way for Daniel Ricciardo to start his pursuit of a second win of the season as he finished fastest in both practice sessions.

Plenty for his rivals to ponder, however, with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel having low key and, at times, scrappy sessions. Keeping their cards close to their chest? Most probably.

The picture, as ever, will become clearer tomorrow. Join us for build up to final practice from 09:30 BST.

Here's Andrew Benson's take on today and I'll see you later.

A minute to go and, unsurprisingly, no improvements from the front runners.

Kevin Magnussen, who got out late into the session, is improving though. He's up to 17th after a 1:21.345.

A problem for Felipe Massa. He reports a gearbox issue and is heading back to base. Looks like that's the end of his session.

Every other car apart from the retired ones are out on the track to squeeze in some laps in the final four minutes.

"What is Vettel doing!? Honestly," says Romain Grosjean.

The Frenchman feels he was blocked by Sebastian Vettel.

Not a happy chap at all today.

A Friday to forget for Jolyon Palmer, who absolutely needed things to go well, especially with Robert Kubica testing for the team in Hungary in a couple of days.

Jolyon Palmer over corrected, he's gone off and destroyed the right rear of his car.

The team principal of Renault shakes his head. This is a weekend Jolyon really needed to go well.

    Oh no!

Jolyon Palmer has gone off at the final corner and hit the barrier side on, wrecking the right rear of his Renault.

"Car OK, Jolyon?" the Briton is asked.

I do hope there are no issues because McLaren have looked competitive, certainly relative to their pace this season.
