    Lance Stroll runs wide at Turn 4 - the same spot where Jolyon Palmer obliterated his front wing - but doesn't hit the big bump of a kerb with quite so much force and gets away with it. Stroll is currently 15th quickest with 1:21.466.

    The times keep tumbling as Daniel Ricciardo lowers the benchmark with a 1:19.324.

    It doesn't last long as Lewis Hamilton takes a half-a-second sized chunk out of that time to reclaim P1.

    Hamilton then pits, with several other drivers following suit. Looks like we are heading towards qualifying simulation runs territory.

    Lewis Hamilton has those tyres nicely warmed up and he leaps into P1 with a 1:19.373.

    Max Verstappen, seven laps in, has also improved to move up to second, a tenth of a second down on Hamilton.

    Valtteri Bottas moves top of the pile as he does a 1:19.546 on softs, putting him a tenth of a second clear of Sebastian Vettel.

    Lewis Hamilton reports a whistling sound coming from his engine, but it doesn't stop him from going third quickest with 1:19.761.

    He was promised a better rear package for second practice but he hasn't got it.

    "I've got a mountain of understeer," he complains.

    Jolyon Palmer's Renault is patched up and ready to go again for second practice, but what about Kevin Magnussen's Haas? Antonio Giovinazzi was behind the wheel for first practice and planted the car in a barrier.

    The Haas mechanics have been working flat out to get the car shipshape once again.
