Stroll is struggling once again. His second lap on the super-softs sees him into the gravel at Turn 4. The wheels spin as he tries to escape, kicking up loads of bits of gravel and eventually he gets enough traction to get back on the circuit.

He's currently propping up the timesheet, with fellow Williams driver Sirotkin one place above him.

Verstappen is not having a good session. He's got the eighth fastest time, has only completed five laps and is currently back in the Red Bull garage with a lot of tinkering going on on his car.

You know what I was thinking yesterday? We haven't heard a Grosjean whinge about brakes for a while.

Well, it's back. "I'm not happy with braking into turn 10," he says.

All is well in the world once again.

As suspected yesterday, having spelt it wrong, then painted over the error, the correct spelling is now in the pit lane.

Not been as many offs as yesterday thanks to the lack of wind but Verstappen has just had a brief spell off the circuit. He's currently eighth quickest with 1:19.013.

Also, the Spanish fans will love the sight of who is currently fifth quickest. A 1:19.104 from Fernando Alonso has the McLaren a second off the benchmark time.

Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola appeared at the drivers’ briefing on Friday evening, where he faced some complaints from Sebastian Vettel, who said he would like tyres that had both a wider operating-temperature window and did not overheat when following another car closely. Other senior figures felt Vettel’s complaints were not realistic.

There was also discussion about the similarity in behaviour of the different tyre compounds - a thing on track on Friday - and on whether the system of tyre choice between qualifying and race is working. Some feel the rule that makes teams start the race on the tyre they used to set their fastest time in Q2 favours the top teams, who can often get through to Q3 on a slower tyre that is better for the race while others cannot, and also reduces strategic variability in allowing the top teams not to have to use the softest tyre in the race if they do not want to.

The FIA are going to look into this and may propose some changes, which could include asking Pirelli to introduce more steps between the compounds they bring to races.
