David Jarvis: Thrilling end to the #USGP, external. Get in Kimi Raikkonen, probably his last win in f1 and what a driver he has been over the years! Bellissimo!

Eric Johnson‏: That was a great race. Can someone ask the teams to do it all again tomorrow?

Simon Cooper: Once again Mercedes race tactician loses Hamilton the race. He should have been pitted five laps earlier. Well done you.

Kayleigh‍: Races like today remind me why I’m an F1 fan.

We thought Ferrari had thrown it away, by not pitting Raikkonen during the virtual safety car period when Ricciardo's car was being recovered, but it is Ferrari who are cheering and the Italian national anthem which is played at the end.

  3. 'No'published at 21:04 British Summer Time 21 October 2018

Did you win the championship? Kimi Raikkonen asks Lewis Hamilton.

"No," is the brief response from Hamilton, who doesn't look too impressed at that question.

He will probably win it next week, but, still, there is no title celebration for Hamilton today.

  4. 'Best we could do'published at 21:04 British Summer Time 21 October 2018

Lewis Hamilton, who finished third says: "A big congratulations to Kimi, he did a great job with no mistakes. He had a great start and managed to go all the way.

"Max did a great job too, he was on a better tyre than us at the end, so naturally a bit of a struggle for us but it was the best we could do in the end. At least we could have a good race. But we’ll leave it until next weekend.

"I came out ahead in the pit, but the window was closed and it was way too far to come back from. I don’t know how our strategy ended up like that, and you only have a short time to do a fast lap on new tyres and I missed it.

"Ferrari picked up their pace this weekend, so I look forward to the next race."

  5. 'I destroyed my shoe, pushing it hard'published at 21:00 British Summer Time 21 October 2018

Max Verstappen, who came second after a starting position of 18, says: "A bit unexpected, a good start, good first lap very quickly we were into P5 then we could follow the leaders.

"We made the right call to undercut Valtteri, on the last three laps I ran out of tyres. I destroyed my shoe, pushing it hard but all good.

"We were really struggling with the rear tyres, it was a good fight. I was pushing as much as I could, but clearly Lewis was on the edge too."

  6. 'It's been a great weekend'published at 20:59 British Summer Time 21 October 2018

Kimi Raikkonen, winner of the US Grand Prix says: "Maybe they (the fans) are happier, it's been a great weekend, the car has been good all the time.

"I got a good start and I ended to push hard and the tyres were not in their best shape towards the end. Max had the same problem and Lewis but we had enough speed and kept it consistent. I'm much happier here than finishing in second but I'm happy.

"It was obviously coming in at the right time and having enough tyres, so it was a balancing act but we did it well, well enough to win and good."

  10. Hamilton third, Vettel fourth, title race NOT overpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 21 October 2018

The title race goes on to Mexico.

Lewis Hamilton edges closer to the world title, but his third-place finish is not enough to win it today as Sebastian Vettel is one place further behind in fourth.

Mercedes, who did excellently to give Lewis Hamilton the lead with a pit stop under the virtual safety car early on, then probably left Hamilton out for at least three laps too long when he had blistering tyres.

What a time for it to happen. He has been binned off by Ferrari, replaced by young Charles Leclerc for 2019, but the veteran takes the win, the 21st of his career.

Sensational from Max Verstappen, who started 18th and he comes second.
