Hamilton: "How did it get to 12 seconds?"
Engineer: "He's hitting those back markers now, and struggled in traffic"
Lap 40/56
A reminder of how Hamilton wins the title. At the moment, the title race is NOT decided today and goes to Mexico. If Hamilton, who has just been allowed past Bottas and into third, gets past Max Verstappen then it all changes.

Hamilton is 12 seconds off the lead of the grand prix. This lap will tell us how fast a new set of tyres are compared to an old set.
Lap 39/56
Kimi Raikkonen is now back in front, have we all been too harsh on the Ferrari strategists?
At the moment Hamilton is fourth, Vettel is fifth. That would not be enough for Hamilton to win the world title today. Luckily for Hamilton, Bottas is next and surely going to be asked to get out of the way for the second time this race.
Lap 38/56
Mercedes are listening, David. The softs come off, more softs come on. Hamilton drops from first to fourth, did Mercedes leave it too long?
Lap 37.56
David NicholsonHirst: Pit Hamilton you idiots!
Lap 37/56
Hamilton: "Left rear, and right rear are running out."
Engineer: "Ok, copy."

Hamilton's tyres, are blistering across the left and right rear. We've just taking a look at Vettel's tyres and he's not having the same problem, his are newer but Hamilton's aren't looking great.
Lap 36/56
Kimi Raikkonen is much quicker than Lewis Hamilton. It looks like Hamilton will have to come in after all. This race, this championship, but not Hamilton's tyres, has a lot of life left in it.
Lap 35/56
Been a bit busy Kayleigh! Can Stoffel get his first points finish since Azerbaijan back in race four? He won't have many more chances in his Formula 1 career as he has been dumped by McLaren and will be spending 2019 racing in Formula E.

Arrivabene must have done the most mileage walking up and down this pit wall. While James Vowles, Mercedes chief strategist, is sat doing everything he can to calculate what to do to win this race.

Vettel has just done another fastest lap which is about a second quicker than Hamilton is going. But he's got to really send it to make any difference.
Lap 33/56
Retirement number four and it is for the Sauber of Charles Leclerc, who had been down in 16th. He joins Daniel Ricciardo, Romain Grosjean and Fernando Alonso left wondering what might have been.
Lap 33/56
Lap 32/56
A reminder of what Hamilton needs to do to win the world title.
At the moment he is first, Vettel is fifth. If the race stopped this second Hamilton would be the world champion. Twenty-four laps to go.

Vettel: "Any data on these tyres?"
Engineer: "We will let you know."
Jolyon Palmer explains... That's Vettel asking how the others on those tyres are getting on...
Lap 32/56
Could this be crucial? Some blistering is appearing on Hamilton's left rear tyre. His lead is at the 16-second mark. Raikkonen second, Verstappen third, Bottas fourth, Vettel fifth.

I've just been speaking to Pirelli, the wet sessions on Friday didn't provide them with much data, so they're not sure how long the tyres will last for. But they've calculated that Hamilton is probably targeting two stops, judging by his pace...
Lap 30/56
Ferrari are banking on Lewis Hamilton needing to stop again. Pirelli think he may have to. But we've seen drivers manage their tyres better than expected at times this season, and no-one does that better than Hamilton.
Lap 29/56
The only men not to stop are Kevin Magnussen and Marcus Ericsson in sixth and ninth so far. The Renaults of Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz are set for a good haul of points, seventh and eighth at the moment.
Men out, remember, Ricciardo, Grosjean and Alonso.
