Fernando Alonso has some bad news for anyone who might be expecting a topsy-turvy grid after Friday’s mixed-up practice session. “It is difficult to guess at the moment,” the McLaren driver said, “because the hyper-soft only gave you one lap and maybe some of the top guys in that lap had traffic or a lock-up and maybe didn’t put the lap together. I think (on Saturday) they will put the lap together and the order will be more normal.”

In the middle sector, turns seven, eight, nine, 10 and 11, you can hit the wall so no-one wants to be doing that before qualifying when you are not going to be learning a lot.

Kayleigh: Ooh this is like picking your favourite niece or nephew... I think Max is more likely to get the win, but would love to see Danny on the top step. Maybe a Red Bull 1-2?
