  1. Poor conditions for practicepublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

Daniel Ricciardo says: "These are the worst conditions. It's too dry for inters, we'll just burn 'em up and we might need them for qualifying. But it's too wet for slicks, even if we go out on the hyper-softs we won't learn anything. Have to wait for it to rain or dry up more"

  2. Double trouble for Gaslypublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

Phoenix GT3: Fernando P1? Are we in 2012 again? #bbcf1, external

Kenneth Hill: Just goes to show that teams don't really need 4 hours of practice/set up.

Amit Mandalia: I found it pretty telling that Red Bull and Renault were at the sharp end yet McLaren still down the bottom of the order. All that talk of having the “best chassis” while blaming Honda, now can see the problems are the car.

Pierre Gasly is 3.5 seconds behind Alonso... shame, since they were both on the hypersoft.

It's a 1:21.213 for Alonso, and Pierre Gasly is a starting a flying lap.

  9. Margaritas aren't Mexcianpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

Since Jack Nicholls is talking about tequila. I've got a fun fact.

    Margaritas aren't Mexcian.

A German Ambassador's daughter created it on a trip to Mexico after messing around with some tequila and other flavours, and the margarita was born.

We have a car on the track, finally. It's Alonso on the hypersofts. The track is looking quite dry.

In that case, I'm backing Maxy for pole.

Jeroen Demmendaal via #bbcf1: "Today could be historic. We may see the first ever Dutch #F1 polesitter. Frankly, I think we will, rain or not."

A big statement, but it looks very much like a good opportunity for Verstappen.

I agree with Jack Nicholls, I can't believe there has never been a Dutch pole sitter before, even daddy Jos, missed out on that, his closest was sixth.

    Andrew Benson
    BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer

Fernando Alonso has some bad news for anyone who might be expecting a topsy-turvy grid after Friday’s mixed-up practice session. “It is difficult to guess at the moment,” the McLaren driver said, “because the hyper-soft only gave you one lap and maybe some of the top guys in that lap had traffic or a lock-up and maybe didn’t put the lap together. I think (on Saturday) they will put the lap together and the order will be more normal.”

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

In the middle sector, turns seven, eight, nine, 10 and 11, you can hit the wall so no-one wants to be doing that before qualifying when you are not going to be learning a lot.

Kayleigh: Ooh this is like picking your favourite niece or nephew... I think Max is more likely to get the win, but would love to see Danny on the top step. Maybe a Red Bull 1-2?

It's a difficult question, but even parents have their favourite child...

Karen Waddy: If Ricciardo wins can we expect to see a tequila shoey?!

    Lets hope!

Amit Mandalia: "Does anyone else hope today stays wet and tomorrow goes back to being dry so that everyone has to deal with the uncertainty of the tyres during the race? #bbcf1, external

Matt Claypole: I'm thinking a high rate of attrition may be a possibility in this race. To be honest, I just want someone other than a Ferrari, Merc or Red Bull to win. Might be Hülkenberg's best chance yet to get on one of those three steps.

Maybe... Hulkenberg did get a pole position once... who'd have thought?
