Guaranteed through - Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen. Everyone else still has work to do. Vettel ninth with nine minutes to go. This is proving to be a stressful time for anyone connected with Ferrari.

Leclerc out in Q1 reaction #bbcf1

Mrinal: This shows why Ferrari won't win the championship. Absolutely rubbish from the strategist of Ferrari

Kris Jefferson: There’s almost an arrogance about Ferrari at the moment, and it is really damaging the image of the team

R.Molly: What is going on at Ferrari??? Leclerc out in Q1... in his home race! I feel sorry for him. Their decision-making this season is a shambles

Jennifer Harris: It strikes me that Binotto is doing the same as his predecessor - favouring Vettel over his team mate. Shame on you.

Valtteri Bottas with a track record of 1:10.701. Hamilton four tenths behind. They've done their part.

Meanwhile we see a furious Charles Leclerc patrolling the Ferrari garage.

  7. Into Q2published at 14:27 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

We continue, but Leclerc does not. We have 15 minutes now and 15 drivers remain. That gets trimmed down to 10.

    Leclerc out in Q1

    Matt Warwick
    BBC Sport in Monaco

Confusion turns to disbelief on Le Rocher. The fans cheer and applaud Vettel’s fastest Q1 time, before realising it knocks Leclerc OUT.

No one can understand it. They are furious.

Some of the fans are leaving. Some of them are just slipping over and falling down the bank.

Why on earth would Ferrari not send Leclerc out when they knew Vettel would have gone faster and Leclerc would be on the cusp? It is curious.

    Lerclerc out in Q1 #bbcf1

Emma Louise Tennant: Did that just happen, really

Lisa Higgins: Ferrari showing again tactical nativity and fragility the pivotal reason why they won’t win the championship!

Lady T: Wow big Ferrari mess up and race day not even here yet

  11. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

You have to feel so sorry for Charles Leclerc. He was denied a victory in Bahrain when his engine lost power, to drop him down to third, he has had team orders most of the season when his team have clearly favoured Sebastian Vettel and now, in his home race, he starts very close to the back, with little to no chance now of a victory.

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

Ferrari, one assumes, left Leclerc in the garage to save tyres and now he is going to have loads of tyres. He was their hope for the race. What a shocker. Somehow that has gone badly, badly wrong for the home hero.

  14. Goodbye...published at 14:22 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

    • 18th - Lance Stroll (Racing Point)
    • 19th - George Russell (Williams)

An absolutely disastrous Q1 for those three teams.

  16. Leclerc is out of Q1!published at 14:21 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

What were Ferrari doing? Charles Leclerc was still in the garage and had to just watch on as the other cars pushed him down and down and down and out!

Leclerc was fastest in FP3, that was earlier today. He is 16th and out. He is absolutely furious.
