    Should Verstappen be penalised? #bbcf1

Simon H: Race of the season ended over two hours ago. And they’re still deliberating over the penalty. Gotta be quicker than this.

Mark Doughty: If Verstappen gets a penalty for that overtake then F1 is officially dead. Max had the inside line, was ahead at the apex and kept the lock on throughout the corner. Leclerc should have back out and tried to switch back inside.

Mark Rogers: The onboard shot clearly shows Verstappen open his steering and drive into pushing Leclerc off the track. As Martin Brundle would say, that's a slam-dunk

PS: Any chance of a decision before Xmas?

Here are the strategies that the teams employed today. Two stops for Sebastian Vettel and Kevin Magnussen, one for everyone else.

Ricciardo with a 46-lap gamble on the mediums he started on, but no points for him.

  7. Awaiting a penalty?published at 17:53 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

Before he went to see the stewards, Max Verstappen spoke to Sky Sports and said: "It doesn't change my race, but I don't think we should get a penalty for that.

"It was amazing to come back after a poor start and amazing for Honda. I was disappointed [after the first lap], but I kept pushing hard."

During the interview, team boss Christian Horner then ran over to hug Max.

He continues: "I had to stay calm and get through them cleanly. Hunting down the leaders, but yeah - amazing."

Should Verstappen keep Austrian GP win?

Andyeb: Looking at the replays, I don't see how VPN has a hope of keeping that win. Looks pretty clear cut, but will be bad for the sport if they overturn the result again.

Lachie: No real need for drivers to see stewards, Charles lost the corner then turned into Max, wheels bumped then carried on, good wheel to wheel racing, nothing more! Max much faster and Charles couldn't keep him behind, simples!

David Sharp: Argh. I wouldn’t want to make that decision but looks to me that Verstappen aims to push Leclerc off. Contact could have been avoided if he had continued to turn in rather than releasing some of the lock. He could have made that move stick without contact surely.

Mark Potter: There's no penalty to give, the Ferrari could've backed out and there wouldn't have been contact or off the track action. Verstappen level and inside had the right of way. Let's move on.

  10. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

The race finished at 15:35 BST. More than two hours later and we still don't know the official winner. F1 not doing itself any favours after the race of the season on the track.

  11. Decision imminent?published at 17:38 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

F1 journalist Albert Fabrega is outside the stewards' office in Austria and has just posted this on his Twitter account.

No comment from Leclerc and Verstappen as they leave, but it seems that our wait for news may soon be over.

Any clues in the body language....?

  12. 'Struggled to overtake'published at 17:38 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

Pierre Gasly, who struggled as he finished P7 and even got lapped by Max Verstappen, says: "It was quite tough, not so much pace. I got a bit stuck and struggled to overtake.

"I tried to push hard at the beginning and destroyed the tyres and they had massive blisters. Then I tried to catch Lando (Norris) but it was difficult so it was complicated."

  13. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

Wonder what Daniel Ricciardo is thinking? His current team's struggles return, while his former team-mate takes the chequered flag.

But it's another bad day for Ricciardo's replacement at Red Bull, with Pierre Gasly down in seventh, beaten by the McLaren of Lando Norris.

  14. 'One bad weekend'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

Renault's Daniel Ricciardo missed out on a point today as he comes 12th. He tells Sky Sports: "We hoped for something better today. I think it's important to understand it but also to pick everyone up - it's one bad weekend.

"We will get back in the points we just need to figure it out and me too - I'm still not perfect, I've had moments this year but we need to put it together, hopefully we will be better at Silverstone."

Max Verstappen also nabbed the bonus point for the fastest lap so if his victory stands the title race will look like this.

Should Verstappen keep Austrian GP win? #bbcf1

Simon Trinder: I agree with a lot of the comments being made. I want to see hard, wheel to wheel, racing. But forcing another driver off the track isn’t hard racing, it’s cheating!

Weeson: F1 is first and foremost a sport. Thus the sporting code must prevail or it would be a free for all. Forcing your opponent off the track contravenes the concept of sportsmanship. Charles Leclerc should be the rightful winner today.

Code Ninja: Verstappen barged Leclerc off the track. Simple as that. It's a blatant rule breach and not the first time for Verstappen. The boy is a liability. He's fast, sure, but at times he's reckless.

Djamel Makhlouf: I don't understand why the drivers even have to see the stewards for this one... It's either a penalty or its not... Stop faffing about.

  18. 'A highly entertaining race'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 30 June 2019

Racing Point miss out on the points, with 11th for Sergio Perez and 14th for Lance Stroll. But they are staying upbeat.
