They were so buoyant. They said they were going to go for the win. It is not just they have finished second, they have wilted. Mercedes have not called this right. They have not given their drivers the best shot. It has not been a fighting performance from Mercedes.

Max Verstappen has dominated this grand prix in Mexico and his gold race helmet is going to be sitting pretty on the top step in just a few moments...

Fastest lap attempt for George Russell. He's in for fresh tyres and will still come out in fourth.

The podium places looking to be heading to Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez. Daniel Ricciardo is still in seventh and is dragging out as much pace as possible from the McLaren to accommodate that 10-second time penalty which is heading his way.

George Russell was very agitated over the radio. The Mercedes man is five seconds behind third-placed Sergio Perez.

Russell: "I have gone through debris, check for punctures, maybe we should box."

Mercedes: "Stay out, stay out."

Russell: "Why should we stay out, the tyres are gone."

Mercedes: "His tyres [Sergio Perez] will be more gone than yours."

Mercedes have not got it right. Daniel Ricciardo has been flying and showing what could have happened if they had gone for the soft on the second stint. They had nothing to gain by putting George Russell on the hard tyre.

Mercedes could have done better than this.
